Omfg this is pissing me off..

Im trying to install a new stereo player in my car, and i cant even get past the fucking first step. Ive been trying to maybe 3 hours with NO progress at all. Trying to remove the stock stereo even with the stupid keys meant to remove it, is not working at all. The left side will pop out somewhat, but the passenger side of the stereo wont budge a fucking inch. Every time the stupid tools slide out, ive tried taking out the shifter bezel and pushing with my hand but no luck, tried using a flattip for leverage, nothing. Tried just manhandling it out from the left side and i cant overpower it, help me..

Edit: Sorry im working on the CD player not the stereo.

youve got to be missing a screw... There were 4 on mine I believe. Might have been 6 even, I dont remember.

Try pushing outwards on the forks while pulling out.

on my car theres a screw all the way in the back, if you look where the cd player was youll see it

Ill try this. Btw i am removing the CD player, not the stereo.

probiker427 08-23-2010 03:36 PM

if its the same set up, that is most likely the screw your missing, get a flashlight and look straight back in the cd slot

probiker427 08-23-2010 03:53 PM

Wait, did you get the CD player out? or are you still attempting that? i misread thought you were asking how to take out the whole bezel.

Deathdiesel 08-23-2010 04:04 PM

Im trying to take the CD player out, i havent gotten it out. There is no room for screws in this thing. I felt as far back as i could and no screws.

probiker427 08-23-2010 04:12 PM

do you have any buddys that know car audio? if not might have to take it to best buy and have them pop it out quick

Deathdiesel 08-23-2010 05:00 PM

I doubt best buy would know how, im tempted to take it to an auto shop that i know and do a few other things while im at it. Im getting sick of putting hours into my car and accomplishing not a fucking thing. I even talked to tech support at crutchfield and they dunno why its not working. Fml and my car.

99MustangGT 08-23-2010 05:11 PM

Hope you find a solution quick, good luck.

stanger00 08-23-2010 05:15 PM

Best Buy installed mine 8 years ago with no issues. They removed the lower CD player and installed a worthless pocket.

probiker427 08-23-2010 05:20 PM

^ they just took mine out and installed a compartment like stanger said, i was there less then 20min and no charge for me

Deathdiesel 08-23-2010 05:50 PM

Finally got the communist slut, i was doing something so simple to overlook but so stupid. Basically i was pushing the tools/pins as far in as they could go, henceforth making them useless. I took a look at the old stereo and figured it out. No i just gotta get my new kenwood out so i can paint the interior peice silver..This looks very daunting as well because the keys they have suck. Did they not charge you for the compartment? I had to buy one from LMR for like 50 fuckin bux.

probiker427 08-23-2010 05:57 PM

no i bought that piece, the removal of the cd player and install of the compartment was free. i have my bezel painted silver i love it

Deathdiesel 08-23-2010 06:00 PM

I just gotta figure out how to get the new knewood out then i can get to painting...Fuck.

Dude calm down. You sound like 13 year old girl whining. It's not that difficult. I'm assuming your new head unit is a single din? If so, you shouldn't have paid $50 for the little storage pocket thing to fill in the other slot. It would've been cheaper to buy an 04 bezel and gotten a double din head unit. Anyways, just take your time and plan out what your are going to do. It's really not that hard.
