Annoying ABS problems.

A couple of months ago my ABS light would start coming on, and going off randomly. And the ABS is actually going off too, not just the light. It does it at completely random times (sometimes when starting the car, sometimes when going 60 on the highway, etc) and goes off randomly too, but usually stays off. I've checked all of the sensors and the sensor wires and didn't see any damage. I haven't checked anything else, but does anyone have the slightest idea what the hell would cause this? I'm looking for the ABS wiring diagram right now (is it in the Haynes manual?) and going to check the ground, if that's not it then I don't know what the fawk.

You should check the ground first. It's the bolt right above the passnger side headlight. It should be in the Haynes book.

yup, the ground since its an intermittent issue, but other than that Im thinking the ABS module could be going south.

First thing you should of checked was brake fluid level.....

Fluid level is at max.

And the ground is fine.

Is there any metal shavings by the wheel sensors? Have you also checked the fuse?

Mine is doing the same thing.. Been doing it for a couple of months now, but I've been too pre-occupied to try to figure it out.

Well, I think I found out a contributing factor.

To start, I've been hearing a dangalang light metal rattle for a couple of days, when I got home tonight I took the wheel off to investigates, turns out the ABS wire bracket came off (what size nuts do I need BTW, it mounts on the strut bolts)

So I check out the wire and I'm all "hmm, well this doesn't look like it's messed up or anything, so I don't know if that's why the ABS (and traction control now, but who cares about TCS anyway) isn't working.. So I look around and see the ole melt mark in my fender well from the tire scraping at full-turn radius.. Then I look closer and see a wire in the hole, then I look at the wire coming out of it and guess where it goes, right to the abs line!

You think that is a problem? Haha.... The fender well would wear through right where my god damn ABS line is. So now I probably need to get that wiring replaced; and check the other side to see if it's the same.

Does anyone know the name of the spacers that keep you from turning your wheels all the way?

And is there any difference between GT sensors and V6 sensors?

Yeah, that doesn't look like much of a problem to me either. I don't know about the bolt or the spacers you are talking about, but the wire definately needs to be replaced and that's a killer deal. Also, the sensor will work with the v6 and GT so no worries there.
