Default Need info on hood and/or bumpers

Been looking all over the interweb to find a hood and bumper for my car. I ofcourse checked out Ebay. Im looking for a 2000 cobra R hood and I see lots of em, other than thw weight savings (which I dont give 2 ***** about) is there any other reason to dump the extra cash for a carbon fiber hood? If not, then whats the difference between the fiberglass and other hoods I have been seeing. I dont do any sort of racing so I cant see buying CF unless its got other benefits with it.

About the bumper, whats the deal with the polyurathane and fiberglass there? I see some guys trying to stay away from fiberglass bumpers. Is there a reason behind that?

Give me the low down guys!

Thanks
Tim

Fiberglass bumpers shatter, same for hoods. Carbon fiber does the same but is just stronger.

Other than weight, there is no real difference between carbon fiber and fiberglass. Other than strength, but that won't matter for a hood.

I say just get the cheapest you can find that is from a trusted manufacturer.

Polyurethane is awesome because it usually never breaks or cracks, just cracks the paint. Compared to say the fiberglass on my Cobra that cracks and breaks away on even the slightest impact.

Yeah, no real benefit of the Carbon fiber hood other than it doesn't HAVE to be painted. I get a lot of compliments and questions on mine but it's not for everyone's taste. My hood only weighs about 13 lbs, I can bounce it with my pinky and a slight breeze will pick it up.

I would look at Cervinis, they have had the best fitment and build of any bumpers and hoods I've seen. Stay away from ABCexclusive. While not horrible, I could tell a good difference between my Cervinis bumper and my ABCexclusive bumper.

My hood is fiberglass.....it blows. We hit a dear (like ten ran in front of the car we had no choice) about 6 months ago and it completely shattered the hood. Fiberglass blows, but is pretty cheap and can be easily fixed if you know how.

Um I'd say Cervinis, VIS, or people who make OEM replacements.

Stay away from places like Mr. Bodykit and/or ExtremeDimensions. Never heard anything good from them. Cervinis does awesome work and I can personally vouch for that.

I wouldn't buy anything from Cervinis, personally.. You pay more for their name now than for the actual product. (I'm not saying that their product is bad or anything, you just end up paying more for it because of their "reputation.") When I buy a hood it will be from True Fiber, Kaenen or VIS.

And, I agree with everyone else. Fiberglass on the hood and Poly bumpers. Hoods can be manipulated a bit if they're just a bit off, bumpers take a LOT more work and massaging. The only thing that sucks about poly bumpers is if you manage to break one, it's done and basically has to be replaced there really is no cost effective way to fix them.
