Default Misfiring problem

I have a 2002 V6 and it started misfiring last weekend. It has 115k on it so we changed the plugs/wires/coil pack. The original misfire was on cyl 3. Until Wednesday of this week, it was running well/normal power and it started misfiring badly, worse than the first time. Scanned it again, 1. misfire detected below 1000rpm, 2. misfire on cyl 2, 3. misfire on cyl 6.

We rechecked all of the wiring to be absolutely sure we had all the wires running to the right plugs, and its all kosher. Ran a bit of seafoam through a vacuum line to clean her out, still runs like ****. What else can I check? The fuel injectors are all ticking so they don't seem to be clogged.

Wow...sounds like you took care of everything on the ignitiion side....are you sure the replacement parts were good?

What about a clogged fuel filter? When was the last time you had that replaced?

we just replaced the fuel filter today, still didnt help.

i've been beginning to doubt the coil pack. i'm thinking its possible that the one i got was bad. unfortunately, we already got rid of the old coil pack because we thought we had resolved the problem as it was fine for 3-4 days.

my buddy works at a honda dealer (used to be a tech, now in parts) and he couldnt figure it out either. one of his friends has honda master tech certification so i think we're gonna have him look at it tuesday.

also, there is an exhaust leak at the header on the drivers side, but i don't think that would be causing a 2cyl misfire.

Did you go with Ford coils? You might want to get a friend with the same car and swap coils and see what happens. If the problem moves to the next car then you found your problem. If it stays with your car, then you got another issue.

the coilpack is a motorcraft part. unfortunately i don't have the original that we took off the car, nor do i know anyone around here with the same car that i can try swapping with.

think im just gonna hand it off to the mechanic at my friends shop and hope for the best(cheapest) solution. if not, i may be getting a new ride and parking this one on the side of the house til i have time and money for a new motor/trans/rear end.

If it comes back again, check your fuel injector and O2 sensor on that bank. Has a miss last summer in which a new coil and plugs failed to solve. A new O2 solved it (which I'm still lost how it can only affect one cylinder).

that's also what we were about to check if the new coil didn't fix it. the car as 115k on it so i'm assuming the fuel injectors are gonna get dirty soon. the o2 sensor i would assume throw a code if it was involved in the problem, but i suppose that wouldnt always be the case.

An O2 shouldn't effect only one cylinder either but hey, fixed my problem (and never threw a code for it too).
