Any real advantage in the TR-3650 over the T-45?
I am currently in the market for an '01 or '02 GT. I was looking for the late '01 or the '02 because of the newer transmission. What are the advantages of the TR-3650? I would like to spend as little money as possible, and obviously that may mean going with an early '01 model. Thanks for the help!

It's a bit stronger, like 25lbs more on the tq rating. If you're respectful to either they'll take a good lot more power than they're rating would suggest.
Honestly though I think you'll probably be able to find a 01 with a 3650. Look for the downward facing drain plug. |
The TR3650 is basically an upgraded T45. Personally, I think both are junk, but I may be biased in the hell it puts me through when I need to remove it (as you can tell, I hate transmissions w/ an integrated bellhousing). However, neither are really that much better, though you can get the Hurst SST shifter for the T45, which is a perk.

t45 can also be upgraded cheaper. If you're planning on absurd power I'd seriously consider something like a TKO500 or 600 or a T56 though.

Eh, just bolt ons. I'll probably stop at mild cams if I even get that far.

Shorter throw (40% vs. the typical 30% in most other shifters). Plus a better stick (chrome and the stick is laid back more for a better feel) and the iconic white ball.
