od light flashing

driving home last night, i got on the car hard and once i stopped the o.d light light started flashing. The rpms started to build around 3500 and up with no response from gaining speed, o.d was non-existent and also seemed to cruise once i decelerated.I drove the car today this morning and everything was back to normal and o.d started to work again. i know the flashing o.d is a way of warning you about the tranny but wondering if its just the converter, or soon to be bad tranny,or etc.fluids were normal as well, other then that, what are your opinions on this?
also its a 2002 mustang gt

its because your from norcal lol jk. how many miles do you have on your car?

cpthowdy 12-27-2008 08:16 PM

lol.70,000 miles.just got a jmod about 3 months ago and the tranny looked ok .so today once again i drove it and once i have the od on only the rpms rise,so i have to drive with od off!is this a converter issue?

I honestly dont know. But I really cant believe that a tran w/ that many miles would have problems.

idk, didnt get a code. anyone have any ideas on what this could be before i start dishing money again, lol

flashing light means either a miss fire or a tranny problem. It more then likely stored some codes and I would start by getting those read at a local auto parts store.

broken input shaft! ima end up getting a new tranny. been wantibg to do a manual conversion but ive spoken to speed shops and told me im bette off if i get a built auto if ima have a high hp car in the future.is it worth it dishing 5 grand for the swap or should i stay auto and have it built for 3 grand?

You were able to drive the car still with a broken input shaft?

I would not waste my money going to a manual tranny to me its not worth the money to swap. I would talk to Darrin at bcautomotive cause they build badass 4r70w trannys.
