I bought mine to be a daily driver, which I drive places. What I'm guessing by his name is a 98 gt. Think of all the top end you probably just lost. 4.10's is plenty. What did the car come with originally? My v8 before the 4.10's w/ the 3.55's was getting 24 and 18 in the city. Now with 4.10's. I'm lucky to get 15 in the city. If you think no traction at all, with maybe 12 mpg is worth it. More power to you. But I don't see the need for that much gear. The people that are tellling you not to fear the gear. Do they have that much gear on there cars? Probably not. But if your happy with them congrats. I just dont see the need for that. No offense, thats just my opinion

i know a guy in germany with a 2001 cobra with 4.30's that hit 17x miles an hour on the autobahn so i dont think top end is lost. 4.30's is what wakes the 4 valves up. |

well i found a really neat page... and here is a cobra with redline of 6800 with stock 3.27 and 4.30 it says at 150 you would be around 5700 rpms which is pleanty to still go on!! says the top of 5th here is 180ish!!
http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi and my personal favorite. a t56 viper spec with 4.30 gears 150 at 4300 rpms 6th gear... and it says the top of 6th is in the 200+ range http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi its a fun little site

I think the big thing is, what works for me may not work for you. We all drive differently and use our cars in different ways. The main thing is that you enjoy your car and keep everything safe. I have 4.10s w/ a 5 speed. my wheels and tires are still stock, and I run 2100 rpms at 65 miles per hour. THe motor should live along time at that rate. Thats my opinion. Thanks Bubba

4.30's are a great gear for a heavy car with a tall redline. If you like em, use em.

Planning is important since Im going SC upwards of 500hp I went with 3.73s. Dont want to a banana plantation under my tires. I would of went with 4.10s or 4.30 if I were NA and had minimal bolt ons.
