Burnout Question
 

I have a 2004 Manuel GT and I know that one way to do a burnout is to just set the e-brake and gun it... but, lets be real, this doesn't look too cool. I have also heard that I should just get my car to around 4k rpms, drop the clutch, move to the break and adjust until the car doesn't move but the tires spin. I have tried this second way a few times and I cannot get it to work. This may be because I do not want to hurt the engine. Is there an easier way to do burnouts or do I just need to practice the way listed above? Any suggestions would be great!

P.S. First post so I wasn't sure where to put this... hope i put it in the right place :smokin:

rear wheel drive + e-brake + burnout = broken rotor, axle, u-joint, transmission ETC... its not likely to happen but its possible.

somehow your going to have to use your right foot to hold the brake and press the gas while you slip the clutch out. since you have a 04 you need to turn your traction control off. its one of the buttons in front of the shifter. good luck be safe

Well don't do too many burnouts because I don't think your parents will like you balding your tires out too often..lol

But never touch the E-brake, make sure you have T/C off and if you want just start off doing a donut so you never even have to touch your brakes...plain burnouts are kind of boring to watch...then again I can only spin one wheel..hmm

Yeah you gotta do it like the other guy said. I can do it pretty easy with my 5 speed. Ya just gotta get your right foot kinda hanging off the right side of the brake pedal then with the right side of your right foot ease on the gas. Start releasing the clutch and you will feel the suspension "preload" (it feels like the car lurches forward a bit. Tighten the grip on the bake pedal ease the gas a bit more... and start realeasing the clutch. The wheels will start turning over with verry little effort really. Hold brake as long as your wallet can stand it and burn the hell outta thoe meats and never roll more than a foot! Or for really showing out release the brake while spinning tires and get a lil fish tail while you peel away! LOL

PS dont try to get too fancy your first time. That GT CAN and WILL get away from you really easy.

Yeah I am paying for my car so I will be really safe. I have spun the tires before but that is just when I race my friends or show off hehe, but I am looking to spin them for more than a few seconds to really get some smoke coming off of em.Thanks for your suggestions guys ill try it out later tonight. *Edit* I do not have a traction control button. Does this mean TC is always on, or I just do not have TC in my car. Also, if the case is I do not have it, can I get it put in my car and how much would an upgrade like that run?

just so you know your paint is going to look like hell after all the rocks hit it.

I'm not gonna do it in a rocky area. in parking lots and the like... but with no rocks ;)

hey man grats on youre new stang, all tc does is suppy power away from a wheel that may be spinning and give it to the other tire that is not, this is why you want to turn it off if you want to burn out, if youre car doesnt have the option to turn it off, you dont have it, it is really only good to have in snow or rain to give your car better grip ect. (like that matters i had trouble getting out of the automated car wash today when my back wheel keep trying to spin its way out of the liitle metal thing that keeps your car in place during the wash and my tc was on lmao) its not an option worth getting and would probably be wayyyy to expensive to buy anyway. like one poster said be very careful burning out like this, the mustang gt will get away from you very quickly. enjoy your new stang, for you are now a mustang man for life.

he is talking about the rocks in the asphalt your tire is gonna dig up when burning the tire into it lol,kicking it up into the paint of your ride, so be careful and dont do it to much unless there are girls around lol.

Haha yeah well my family is a mustang family. Both my mom and dads first cars were mustangs so they decided to let me buy one. I see about the rocks thanks for the warnings, I'm not gonna do it too much hehe and I already have a girl so showing off for them isn't too much of a concern right now :smokin:.

By the way thats hilarious about the TC on your car, and yeah I guess if it doesn't work in a car wash it probably wont do too well in snow :/

Hmm...rocks have never messed up my paint from all the shit I've done, just don't do it on some old rough parking lot surface..blacktop is better.

yeah the car wash was embarrising, there was a car behind me and i think the guy in it lol'ed at me trying to get out, plus i got the super duper car wash for 8 bucks i got the car home and it had streaks all over it from when the soap or wax dried before i could towel it off,(next time ill wash it myself) i spent 2 hours making it shine again, but it was a labor of love.

Ah yeah I take my car to automated car washes all the time I guess ill stop. I live in albuquerque and there is a place called Octopus Car Wash where its all hand done for you... not sure if they are a local or nationwide business. Thanks for the visual turd and I will definately shout that just for you :D

lol.. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO AN AUTO MACHINE WASHER THING...

Unless you don't like you car. Wash it yourself... Take my word for this... You have no idea how many scrapes and scratches they put in cars...

But They keep me in business... lol... I'm a detailer... So I get paid to remove the fuck ups in people's paint caused by those machines.

Just start washing it yourself, makes you much more proud to look at your car and know that you're the one who made it all shiny and shit.

Burnouts and what not are not all that impressive in sixers..but atleast I only ruin 1 tire instead of two

I'm trying to find a big open asphalt lot around town so I can do some stupid stuff in it tomorrow..

Meguiar's Gold class wash and wax is good & low cost stuff to use.

I just took my car to an automated wash a few days ago :flamed: but when it starts lookin like it needs a wash I will definately go buy some stuff to wash it myself

The Gold Class Wet (all in one Wax) is good stuff... for all in one.

Meguiars professional mirror waxes are good too... I often use their showcar glaze (polish) followed up with their #26 show car wax... then top it off with some Natty's Blue paste to really make a car shine...

Thats after I compound scratches out... lol... I use poorboys compound... That does a great job getting all those scratches out from the auto machine washers

Its also very important to put a carnauba wax or some other kind of sealant on your paint... All in one waxes have that stuff in it... This will protect you paint and clear coat...

Yeah it's low cost...maybe..what's it 7 bucks for 64oz of the soap? Usually just takes 2 capfulls to wash a car, the wax is only 9$.

If you don't consider 9$ wax low-cost then you need to take a look at stuff like pinnacle..lol

I can get twice as much wax for half the price that as good, if not better, from Justin @ Obsessive Detail.

Thats where I usually get all my detailing stuff...

When I stock up on Meguiars it costs $200+ for everything I need. (thats all the waxes and tire shines and quick detailer and all that crap)

Where if I stock up from Justin I stock up for 140bucks and it will last twice as long...

But Meguiars is definitely ahead of the curve. Their products aren't overly expensive like wolfgang and pinnacle and the quality is comparable to say the least.

For the average joe... Meguiars is the best stuff since sliced bread. For me... I need to make every penny count... The more money I save, is more money per job I make... Is more money for me to stick up my nose and waste on my cars... Is more money to go toward new work trucks and, God willing, a garage...

I get my waxes and buffing compounds imported from Germany.. after all the taxes and shipping there's nothing in the US that approaches the price. Some German friends turned me on to their car care stuff though... now I'm stuck on it.

if you need any more i could go out and look on economy and try to keep costs down for you. as of right now the exchange rate is .66 US cents to 1. EURO ouch!!!

I bought 3 bottles last time. Still have 2.5. Hell of it is I don't even know what the label says... I still follow the directions that the kraut that turned me onto it gave me. Good thing he's a friend heheh
