Default wheel alignment

this q is for those who have chromies on their cars. Does getting an alignment require installing the stock wheels back on the car before having this done? I went to the local ford dealer and they told me that when they put the wheel sensors on that they will most likely scratch up the chrome. I have never heard this. It seems like too much work to put the old ones back on, get the alignment, and put the chrome back on after. This sucks.
