Default 10 second daily driver.

Ok hypothetically this may become reality...my dad and i are considering selling his corvette and using the money to take a stock 2001 Bullitt and make it run in the 10's...the catch is we want to have it as a daily driver. How can this be done? Please submit various combos and ideas. O and no engine combinations that r gonna get 2 mpg andno massive nitrous shots. We were thinking something like:
5.4L GT500 engine
mild-medium turbo cams and ported heads
Twin turbos
forged internals
full aeromotive fuel system
tr6 tranny w/ stage 3 clutch steel flywheel alum. driveshaft
auburn e locker, 33 splines 3.90 gears or 4.10, shor throw
coilovers, subframes, upper and lower ca's, castercambers and all the other lil suspension pieces. Drag slicks
sans sound deadening, and rear seat, racing seats
lt headers, offroad x or h pipe, maganflow catback, msd coilpacks, one hell of a safe tune. Do you guys think this setup will work? Any better suggestions? Comments, insults etc?

5.4 w/ 4V heads (preferablely the GT500/GT/Cobra R heads, maybe even ported), good intake, hot street-aggressive cams, and a good exhaust w/ long tubes and mufflers. If N/A isn't good enough, add some nitrous, gear (if traction isn't a problem), maybe some mild boost, etc.

3.90 and 4.10 will be too much gear for that setup, traction might be a big problem. With the 5.4 the 3.55 or the 3.27 is what is best.

You dont need a 5.4 when you can do it with a 2v. Also you mentioned a gt500 with forged internals, a GT500 already comes with forged parts.

A built 2v with 500rwhp easily done with any turbo or blower setup will go tens. And its not hard to daily drive one with a nice conservative street tune. you dont need 4v parts or a 5.4 to do it and its alot cheaper this way.

that's what I'm talkin about. more than sufficient for the power you'll need. Suspension and brakes are another matter.

I'd do a MM torque arm and panhard bar in the rear with coil overs and adjustable drag shocks all around. It's not going to be a corner carver if you want 10's... just don't work like that. Don't forget the 10sec certified cage. You'll need 8pts IIRC. Don't forget 10.5" slicks, driveshaft safety loops, fire putter outter system, remote master power kill switch, or a fuel cell. All good ideas when you start seeing 130mph trap speeds.

For brakes, pull the stockers and get a set of Aerospace or SSBC three pot. Figure on about 1200 bucks for brakes that will fit with slicks and skinnies.

built block, kenne bell 2.8h, race ported 2v heads, aggressive custom grind cams, tubular front end, coil-overs, built rear (31 spline), 3.73 gears, 28" tire, a lot of weight reduction, roll cage, upgraded breaks, beefy sub frame connectors. that should about do it.

Well, since everyone is going off the deepend, just throw in a mild/slightly aggresive 460 or any 385 series stroker combo, upgrade the car to handle that beast, and enjoy smooth idling w/ no power adders and earth moving torque.

its all a compromise. it doesnt matter if you build 800hp, if you cant hook it, its useless, ask a lot of the supra/honda/cobra guys. but the more radical you go on the suspension, the worse itll have for street manners. your going to need a nice rear suspension setup with a built rear and some sticky tires. tubular front stuff may not be needed, but itll help a ton, however some drag springs and adjustable shocks/struts will be needed. look at the lakewoods or the stranges. as for motor, you have a ton of options, a screw blower, a centerfuge with some nitrous, ide stay away from a turbo because its really hard to make reliable, predictable, dependable power that you can have for track and street... for a decent cost. and the more you give up on interior and other weight, the more you will gain at the track. not to mention a pretty serious 4r70...

Well to all the doubters and people saying it won't happen.....Project is set to begin December of next year with sponsorship from my fraternity Phi Kappa Psi. My Dad's keepin his vette and the Frat alumni are going to pay for all of it as a means to promote some of the alumni's local businesses here in Austin. This lil dream will become a reality most likely. The project is still pending final approval, but i've heard through the grapevine that it's going to be approved! BOOYAH!

The key is to use the biggest engine that you can use this way, you can keep it more streetable. A 5.4 w/ 4V heads can work w/ boost but using a 514, you can get close N/A and then you can decide what to do for more juice. However, the other key is if the suspension that you make to allow the tires to hook up on the strip can also work on the street. This is tough but it can be done.
