Another Gears Thread
Okay, i know theres about a million threads on this, but i'm still undecided.
What would be better for me? I'm a city driver, rarely highway and my mustang IS my daily driver. I want something to give me a little more confidence against LS1's and such. I drive an automatic. MPG does come into effect as its pretty expensive around here.
Few questions:
1) 3.73 or 4.10?
2) What brand?
3) Estimate on price after everything (tune, install etc)
Thanks!

Well, my friend has a pretty fast LS1. Its a 2000 z28, with 3.73 gears, intake, exhaust etc. We raced a pretty good distance, stop light to stop light, i owned him off the launch but he ate me in third gear. I kept up, though.
What do you think would be total price? Around 1,000?

The cost will depend on where you live....here in Cali it's damn hard to find anyone that does anything for less than $80-100 an hour so it can be spendy, however i've heard of people around the country getting their gears installed for $300....that doesn't include the cost of parts.

4.10s for sure ona mostly city car they are the way to go. And dont worry you can mess with them i have beaten a good number of ls1 when i only had drag radials, intake, and mufflers. Being a good driver helps alot.

with 56k i wouldn't bother the bearings are good I'm sure. how many mustangs can you think of with 120K+ on stock rears, i can think of alot. get the basic install kit you will be fine. But i guess if it bothers you alot then do it i mean **** its your car.

Everyone feels differently im sure about it, me i wouldnt bother unless it has 90k or more. But i mean do whatever you feel like there is nothing wrong doing it early i just would rather keep the money then replace bearings.
