So I am having a lot of problems with my brakes. I posted on here a couple months ago about my brakes squeaking and giving off dust after I put the Bendix pads on. You guys told me to just get the factory pads. Well, the problems have only gotten worse since then, and since I have bigger wheels on my car I am debating changing everything and going with the cobra or bullitt package on American Muscle. I have also noticed that my discs look pretty crappy anyways, and I went to a shop today and they suggested changing the discs too.
I need advice from everyone on what to do. I just want some brakes that will not squeak and give off minimal dust, and since I probably need my rotors changed, do you guys think the cobra or bullitt package would be best for this?
ALso, the kits don't come with anything for rear brakes. What would you suggest I do for the rear?

Get the Bullitt/Cobra upgrade from Diversified Products Marketing(BuyFordRacing.com). It comes with calipers(loaded), brembo rotors(plain) AND Goodrich Stainless Lines(w/ banjo bolts). For the price you can't beat it... I got mine put on this past weekend and I love them. Instead of s t o p p i n g, I stop NOW. Way better pedal feel and looks... And it only took about an hour to install and bleed them, then another half hour to bed them...

Be warry w/ buyfordracing.com since they sold me and a lot of people defective brake lines. A better bet is performancepartsinc.com since for $400, you get everything besides lines and they sell the correct lines. As for the rear, the calipers for the Cobra, Bullit, GT, Mach 1, and V6 are all the same. The difference is in brackets, rotors, and pads.

The majority of the braking is from the front not the rear just look at any car and you will see the difference in caliper size compared from front to back. You can get the rear if you want to match the color of the fronts but you can also paint it to match but by no means necessary.

Okay, thanks. I have actually already painted the calipers, so that is no big deal. I figure that I would prob at least go ahead and order a new factory rotor and pads for the rear.
I was also wondering how tough it was to install a new caliper. I know you would need to bleed the lines, and then what I don't know about is attaching the new brake line. Would you guys say this is something I could do on my own. Over christmas I just did a spring install on my own, and that was no problem for me.
One other thing is...the emergency brake in my car (the handle)....does it use the rear brakes only? Because if it does, then I have a feeling my rear calipers are ****.

If you have done springs, brakes are far simpler. Several have done write ups on this forum but Im sure if do a google search several will turn up. I know that Jacktheripper, Spikeafrica and one of the members from BMC that posts here has a write up.

brakes are super easy. no worries. i swapped mine in less then an hour.
ive found a ford dealership that was $50 cheaper shipped then anywhere online... and 100 cheaper then AM and thats who i went through.
plus you can sell the old stuff...

Okay, so I think I have decided on what to do. For now, I think I am just going to replace the front pads and rotors with new ford factory ones. This should eliminate my squeaking and brake dust problems. I also think that I am going to get the steel lines to improve the braking feel. For now I plan to leave the back brakes as they are, since they aren't used much anyway. How does this sound to everyone?

If the only issue is squealing just resurface rotors and get new stock pads. Avoid washing wheel when rotors are hot after a drive. You can try this as it worked for me, I got some sandpaper and sanded the rotor"s surface by hand and put some of that brake goop on the pads. After that and driving around a bit it went away. Squeak is cause by vibration or a high spot on the rotors or pads,also a warped rotor thats why you dont wet the wheels for a wash after a drive however warped rotor will cause vibrations when brake is applied.
