Default do i need a gasket?

i just baught some hts coated longtube mac headers and im getting the dr. gas x pipe off mph so do i need any sort of header gasket for the install. and also should i get a new tune on my tuner for the headers would that hurt anything if i didnt and if i did will i see more gains? also how much would it be to get a new tune on it?

thanks

New gaskets are a must dont cheap out. Of course you'll see gains with a tune especially with a full exhaust but it wont hurt anything if you dont. Whos doing the install?

you have a choice, you can put a bead of copper silicon on the block or the headers, let it sit for a few hours/over night, then carefully bolt them up. just make sure the header surfaces are clean and smooth. i know many many people that sweat by this. or you could fumble with trying to line the gaskets up, have them be a pita, and hope they dont blow out. the point is, you need something between the head and header, i dont care what it is.

you wont NEED a tune, but itll be worth an extra few horsepower. over time the computer will "learn" the headers and more or less tune itsself, until the battery is disconnected.

If you use silicone, then you must use the Copper version. However, Clemson, on the Mod engines, the bolt holes for the gaskets aren't slotted so no need to worry about blowout or lining up. I'd personally go w/ gaskets since it's easier to clean off if you take the headers off. Also, piece of advice. Take your k-member off. I was stuborn and left mine on but doing so made it just about impossible to do.

Make sure your headers come with some good self locking nuts. make it easy on yourself drop the K member. Get some good Felpro gaskets or some new stockers. Prepare to curse bruise your knuckles and manuver in some tight areas. I plan on doing the install soon as I get some time and money on my hands. Find some good write ups and choose your paath from there.

i dont see a tune giving you more than 3 horsepower so i say dont get a tune. 3 horsepower for $100, thats not a very good price. i say run it like you got it

Good the liquid gaskets are good on some parts on a car but so things just need to be done with the premade ones that actually just go up and onto the bolts.

VRS is a good compay..bu one question is that a un-catted x pipe? AND YOU WANT TO PUT IT WITH THE LM1? Word of warning it's going to sound ungodly loud that is going to make your grandma walk to her grave and bury herself. It's gonna be loud ridiculously loud.
