Default Sparkplug Chang?

Can someone tell me how to change the sparkplugs in my car, you just pull the coilpack and then the spark plug is there right? What size extension to I need, ect... Also whats a good Sparkplug to replace mine with, should I just get some motorcaft ones?

I went to Kragen and got a spark plug changing kit and it came with a 5/8" spark plug socket and extension. I would also get a cheap gapping tool because you can't assume the gap from the factory is correct....sometimes they get moved during shipping ect....

Pull wire/boot off spark plug.
Put spark plug socket over spark plug
Attach extension, attach ratchet
Remove spark plug

Then to install:
You rub a little dielectric grease on the end of the spark plug that the boot will attach to. Rub a little anti-sieze on the threads
Thread the spark plug back in. Do not overtighten!!!!!!!!! Check a manual to get the torque spec. Use a torque wrench to tighten.

Do one spark plug at a time so you don't mess up the plugs/wires - shouldn't be a problem anyway.

What is done to your car? If it is N/A then go with stock Motorcraft plugs with a TINY bit of antiseize. If it is supercharged or has nitrous, then go with NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .035 and NO anitiseize. Antiseize or too much of it will not seal the plugs well enough for boost or spray.

Who told you that? Kauffmans used anti-seize on my car and those guys know what they are doing.

you use anti seize if you want to get them out easily next time. boost/spray should have nothing to do with it.

You dont need anti seize on the threads. I dont use it, Tim @ Modular Powerhouse doesnt use it, and a lot of the members over there dont use it either. Torque them to 13 ft. lbs. Heres a good write up, http://www.bullittarchive.com/WebHel...ittArchive.htm just dont use anti seize.

Hate to say it but for the bullittarchive site, they recommend the use of antisieze. My 2¢ is that if it doesn't hurt the engine, you could only benefit from it so I say use it since it's cheap insurence.

there's heat, electricity and differential metals all going on. I use antiseize cuz I don't want to chemically weld my plugs to the head. It doesn't happen a lot but it only takes the 1 time.

Dan:

You have always been a trusted source of info, but you are about the only one I have ever heard that says no antiseize.

Depends on what you want. A cheap-o Craftsman version can go for $60 while a good S-K or Snap-On piece goes for $200-300. In addition, capacity and type makes a difference in price.

00 GT V8 Stock. I was thinking about using Bosch platinum. I've heard their excellent. When I modify my stang I might use something else but in the mean time are those good enough.

word of advice bosch sucks...all their products with exception to O2 sensors. I would never use their spark plugs. Autolites, motorcrafts, and my personal choice NGK are all I will use

On top of that, make sure the motor is cool when you try and pull the plugs. The aluminum swells and can make it hard to pull them ..

And they are NGK's.
