Best Mod for the BUCK??....
My wife is giving me 500.00 dollars and I get to buy something for my Mustang. Which should I get:
1. 4:10 Gears (444.00 Installed) (Ford Racing Gears)
2. SCT XCAL?????
Which would give me the best "BANG" for the BUCK?????

When you call MT to order the tuner, they'll ask you what you want on it. Tell them a medium shift point adjustment (or firmer if you plan on a tranny cooler). List them your mods, you're done. On an auto the diff with a tune is amazing. I ordered the tuner/gear combo and tried the tune separately and feel that it made almost as big of diff as the 4.10s.

Is that the only way older cars can correct the speedo or does the tune fix it as well?

I have FFRP 4.10 Gears, SCT II Evo Tune on my 05 automatic and I bark 2nd and 3rd, and the car takes off like a rocket.
You will love the gears, only adds about 300 rpm to highway speeds but you will need either a tuner or a spedo gear in the tranny to report accurate speed.
Does anyone know the location on the tranny on where to access the speed sensor????

Go for BOTH!
If you shop around you can get a Tuner and gears for about $500. Don't fear the gears it's an easy install really. Did mine myself. You'll need a quality air gun though to run the pinion "CRUSH RING" down. Oh and a dial indicator.

HELL NO! Go GEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your speedometer will be wrong, but hey, it will say yer going a little faster than you really are, so less chance of getting a ticket. Then later down the road you can justify to the wifey that you need a tuner cause you diddnt know it would mess up your odometer.
I have an Auto. The 4:10s are WAY more fun than the tuner. tuner is good, but the 4:10's pull like a ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
