I recently had the same problem. It would also make a slightly different noise when the pedal was released as well (don't know if yours does or not). However, I solved my problem when I replaced my flywheel (with aluminum), pilot bearing, clutch, PP, and TOB, lol. But I think mine was coming from the TOB sliding on that solid input bearing of the transmission (I believe that is what it is, but if not, just know that it is the shaft on which the TOB sits). Pull the cover off the side of the tranny and have someone mash the pedal and see if you can tell whether or not that is where it is coming from. I could actually fit my hand through the opening and touch all those parts. If you can do the same or find someone to help you with smaller hands, put some grease on the shaft in the areas which the TOB touches (obviously not on the PP, but just the shaft) and see if that helps.

so how do you fix it? just replace the TOB? does it hurt anything by sliding like that?

Well obviously my suggestion with the grease is a quick fix, as the squeak may just be the precursor for the TOB going out. Depending on age, you might want to consider going ahead and replacing it, but obviously you have to pull the tranny, so that is the time to replace clutch/pp/etc. If you are not ready for all of that, you might try just trying to lube it a bit to get you to the point of replacing the clutch.

As for the sliding I was referring to, if you pull the cover and look at the TOB during clutch depression and release, the TOB bearing slides on the shaft naturally, putting pressure on the PP. I am not referring to anything bad or wrong, the squeak just indicates that things have gotten dry.
