I wanna beat evo's and ss cams.
Ok so with my N/A bullitt what kind of times/mods will i need to beat stock evo's and stock camaro SS's? These are the two car's that are consistantly beating me what can i do (I refuse to supercharge, turbo, or nitrous or stroker) with my 281 to beat these bums? I wanna stay N/A!
Ported and Polished Heads, Cams, longtube headers. I would start there and if you stroked it you would still be N/A so there's nothing wrong with that option. Unless you can't afford it.
Why no N20/Turbo/SC?
easiest most streetable way to make power |

buy forced induction. its the easiest and cheapest way to beat 12 second evos and 12 second SSs. Those cars are fast from the factory and if they have boltons, you are in for a beating.
just full exhaust and some bolts ons will do it. I have beaten a few SS and T/A with just bolt on's and good driving.
the evos are running turbos...therefore you should run on some sort of forced induction as well.
how bout alot of gear and some M/T et streets and go from a dig?

Just get ur basic bolt ons and a DR with some gear and you should beat both easily with good driving like Spike said. Most guys DO NOT know how to drive/launch evo's!
Stock ones sure, but evos with minor bolt ons get into the mid 12s with minimal problems doing so. Plain and simple, youll have to supercharge your car to hang, unless you want to stick more money into heads, cams, boltons, and more... Decent heads alone will cost you 1200+ and you simply wont see the results as supercharging or nitrous would.

Matt, your right really all they need is a boost controller and they will dip into the 12's. As far as a stock evo with intake and exhaust.....they lose power with the intake unless they add more boost, alot of the guys get pissed about it when they see it on the dyno a 12-15hp loss.
Honestly just save yourself time and add a 100-125 shot and eat them up. |

N/A no nitrous?
With basic boltons including head work, somehow find about 600lbs of weight to shed and run a nitromethane W/M injection kit. Run optimal timing and tune the fuel to it. The Methanol wont give but 5 - 10 WHP but the kit will provide a way to feed the nitromethane fuel. Evo ricers vary greatly car to car from mods, skill, and year and just from looking you cant tell the difference in year - all four years they were equally as ugly, but here are typical times (average) to beat for stock evo: 03-04 VIII 14.0 05 VIII 13.9 06 IX 13.6 Since about 90% of these things are modded here's what to expect with a typical $2000 invested in evo, but with stock turbo: 03-04 VIII 12.2 05 VIII 12.2 06 IX 11.8 - 12.0 As far as SS z28, I don't know I dont drive one, but my friend runs 11.8 N/A stock motor (stock internals/head) Good luck What times are you running? |

I'd definately go full exhaust and all the bolt ons and cams too. I beat my friends stock T/A LS1 before I did cams
It really doesnt take much to beat a stock or slightly modded one. All this talk of full bolt ons and cams i dont really see a need for that, and my car is rather heavy with bullit wheels, leather, and the mach 1000. I mean just s a few bolt ons to help flow and gears and traction like nitto dr's, MT's etc.. and you can kill most from a dig no problem.
yeh i beat an 02 trans-am with an exhuast. i had gears, drag radials and some bolt ons
put some nawwwzzzz on that beotch...lol!
i got a buddy with an 06 evo MR with boost controler and downpipe back exhaust and he runs 12.80s. I know my first gear pulls harder than his does, but his entire gear band is constant. The way he drives on the street is the way its driven on the track. stock rims and tires, street PSI, everything...
Longtubes, cams, heads, and a custom tune.
Yea I stayed right beside an LS1 t/a until 120 when he barely pulled me. This was with just minor bolt ons n/a.
Definately put that baby on the bottle. 100 shot kills evos and ss camaros. They are easy snacks. |

The downpipe and exhaust helps it breathe a LOT, and with the FMIC stock ... they are a car to be concerned about unless u have drags from a dig, or heavy motor work from a roll |
Yoshi, your wrong about them running that much boost from the factory. :nono: They are only 10-14psi STOCK, go ride in one and watch the boost guage and you will see. If one is running 20psi they are pushing 300-320awhp. I would know due to the guy who tunes at our shop is 90% DSM tuner and travels across the country tuning them. Also yes you can run more than 20 psi on their stock engine, they have been beffed up more than the regular non-trubo Lancer, and with the right AFR's they will be fine.
Everyone seems to be scared to run AWD cars, but they arent S*** from a dig if the person doesnt know how to launch them. Launching them off the box is 99% the only way otherwise they bog down and you get the win. |
