Default Should MT carry cams?

Do enough people actually buy cams to make it worth me carrying them on shelves?

Smile Cams

I would be interested in cams, Chris. Growing up in the sixties and witnessing the major performance impact that cams (along with other traditional hot-rodding parts) has on both E.T.s and the sound of the engine at idle and WOT makes me interested. By default, I would have to include heads in that analysis, though. But I am currently torn between doing a complete naturally aspirated engine build-up, or buying a supercharger and leaving the major portion of a motor build-up for the not-so-near future. Damn wife and kids get in the way of doing both at once.

lol, I was just going to post a thread on this when I read this thread.

Absolutely.

The reason is this:

If I can buy the cams from you at a similar price or better than what has been the going rates AND get the free shipping, I'm definatley buying from MT.

Plus, I am currently in the market

Of course the REAL question was whether or not enough people purchase them to make it worth the while of MT. That I cannot answer. However, I can say this: All my mustang buddies are talking about Comp or VT cams right now. It's all the rage and everyone wants them. Now, I don't exactly know how many of them actually plan to purchase or just like to talk about it. I think they are still just a little too pricey for most people. BUT, some people, like myself, plan to purchase cams within the next 3 months.

Yes.

I try to buy every part I can from you guys as you have the best prices and excellent customer service.

If you could do the same awesome prices on cams that you do on exhaust and other stuff, I think you'd sell tons.

I think it would be good to expand the store and all. I mean the more you carry, the more people will stop back in. And with the great prices, and all I'm sure it will be a worth while addition.

Chris: I think this is a good idea. Be sure to carry stage ones and stages two's. Go with something popular if you can.

Now, if you could install them, that would be the zhit.

Go with the VT's. Also, if you carry the cams (stage 1 and 2) you should also carry new valve springs, as they are a req. with the Stg. 2's. Man, I may just be in the market for cams in the near future, now to find someone to put them in...lol.

I really think it would be great product for you to carry. I would look at vt. They are making great cams. Everything from stage 1 that require no springs, to stage 2 blower cams. People are making good power. And they are the probably have one of the best customer service.

I'm guessing stage 1's are more popular. For the VT cams, what are the gains for a stage one and a stage two setup?

you should carry whole cam kits, with EVERYTHING you need to install the cam, like springs and all the gaskets and new head bolts if you need to take the head off to change the springs, i dont know if you do im just saying... and just the cam alone for the people that already have everything

I my memory serves me right, Bill Putnam gained 29 hp after he installed his stage 1's untuned. Stage 2's numbers are obviously higher.

I don't know if I would trust that number or not. 30 horses from a cam swap would be wonderful. I have been hearing numbers in the solid 20 horse range though. I think the stage 2's are just as popular, it just requires the spings (as stated above).

I wish you carried more parts for 87-93 Mustangs. I bought gears from you guys a couple months ago and service and shipping were great. Unfortunately I'd have to go elsewhere to get a lot of other things I want as you don't carry much for the 87-93.

I see your ads on the Corall and I know many people on that board have Fox's.

More products should equal more purchasing because of the larger selection. I personally am not in the market for a cam but there are plenty who are.

Well the stage ones are worth about 20 to 25 where the stage 2s are seeing about 30-35 hp. Ill definately get them from you if you carry the VTs.

thats about right. The stage II's however typically kick in at about 3600rpms though and carry the curve all the way past 6200. The stage I's graph is much less impressive and doesn't really improve power til 4600 or so, but still fantasic numbers for a $550-600 part. They are also very close to releasing their stage II "blower" cams which should be absolutely crazy when paired with a blower or NAAWZ.
