You're totally right!
I have a V6 that I turned into a "true dual" running machine! Long, long story short, I started with "custom" work that was horrendous, and ended up meeting some great folks and now have a super fabricator/mechanic that can weld like a computer does!
I now have stock headers into an Pypes hi-flow catted X-pipe into dual Flowmaster 50 series mufflers welded into a MAC catback kit. And...a LOT of custom fabricating to make it all work well together!
Pros:
Pypes is awesome to work with and fully warrants their products!
I like the hp increase my car has experienced with the X-pipe!
The Flowmasters! The company and the mufflers are fabulous!
Cons:
I cut out the MAC mufflers and welded in Flowmaster 50 series because I disliked the MACs. They were terribly, obnoxiously loud and the tone was awful!
MAC did not warrant their catted H-pipe, so I sent it back and requested a refund!
Droning occurs around 45mph...a result of the pipe size and the 3.8L V6 engine. I run 2.5" piping from the headers out to 3" stainless tips. I wish I had stuck with 2.25" out to 2.5" or 3"!
I wish I had stuck with the stock Y-pipe and gone dual from there back. I have had 4 exhaust systems and 5 sets of mufflers on my car over the past year! I have forked out a TON of money and time to have the system redone from the original (terrible) fabricator work. But, I'm extremely happy with the final product now. If I may ever help anyone else out, please contact me.
