my stang on the track

I posted this vid as part of my Drag Racing thread. Just wanted everyone to see my traction and driving problems. If you have any suggestions please check out my post in the drag racing section. 14.4 @ 99

Too bad that F*#&#^@#King integra drowned me out. Except for the sound of wheel hop. :D

Yeah I noticed the sound too...but it looks like you smoked him pretty good...like 3-4 car lengths the best I could tell...

You would think with my HP and TQ #'s I'd be 13's. I usually shift around 5800 (right there at the first redline). I was looking at my dyno sheet and turns out I peak HP @ 5100. You think I may be revving too far? Not enough?

PS that integra ran a 16.58, my 94 3900lbs T-bird did 15.7 with about 170hp and 270tq to the wheels. That Honda has a long way to go to be really slow. :D

Well since we didn't get to watch the staging part don't do a huge burnout with street tires. A lot of people think a burnout helps with street tires but it doesn't. Maybe a set of slicks?? Yeah 5100-5300 is max power that is about where you'd want to shift. Good luck man. Hey at least you crushed that poor ricer. :)

i would disregaurd that reply. you have to keep your revs up. if you shift at 5100 then your rpms are going to drop out of your powerband and your motor has to work harder to get the rpms back up. trust me i tried this with my auto when i was messing with my shift points. now i have my car tuned to where it shifts at 6k. launch at 2500-3k whatever your confortable with and slip the clutch in when you launch

yeah that was weird though cuz it sounded like the TC was on. U sure you turned it off?

and whew for a second i thought that exhaust note was your car...now i know it was the integra's..

MattJ 11-12-2005 01:37 PM

Shift at 5600 and you might see better results.

TC was definately not on. That's good advice, I never thought to slip the clutch. I'm gonna have to do it a couple times to get the hang of it. The Track was HOSED and BUCKETED with water and there's no way to drive around it cause of the guard rails and people. I usually just do a quick little dust the tires off thing. I know better than burning up perfectly good street tires. I'll give slipping it a shot, and get back to you guys next week.
