dual exhaust Help lost power!!!!!!!!!
 

Hello i had duals put on my car and the company cut the pipes after the cats and put straight pipes back no h or x pipe its to pipes on each side one for the left and one for the right and they dont connect I feel like i have lost power please help thanks i have a 2000 v6

You probally lost backpressure.You will probally have to install some cats to compinsate.

Who ever did your exhaust on that car is an idiot. What the hell were they thinking. You just need a dam cross-over of some kind to balance the exhaust and create the backpressure you need. Just get an X or an H pipe and your power will be restored and then some.

If I were you, I would buy and X pipe and then get a GT catback.

Yup, that's completely correct...if it was a V8. Our 3.8's are odd firing, example. Our 3.8 is aranged 123 on the left bank and 456 on the left during the combustion stroke cylinders 2,4,and 6 will fire and vise versa. You don't need a cross over for the Ford V6. What kind of piping did you get? I'm willing to bet either you got piping that is too big and you lost back pressure and some torque. That's usually the case when you see 3.8 guys complaining about losing power after duals. Tell me the specifics of the set-up and I'll help...

Hmm, well I have the same set-up but I have GT take offs with the stock muffs, and I didn't feel any lose anywhere in my powerband. But I have heard of some people feeling the car a bit slower because you do lose just a bit of torque with duals on an otherwise stock 3.8. But you make up for it by having more Horsepower and the car pulling a lot better at higher speeds... That's probably what's going on but just to make sure I would check to see you don't have any exhaust leaks. And if all else fails, you could try a dyno run. That's the only way in this case to really see how those duals have effected your car.

No you don't need any crossover. Since our cars are even firing. I know I said odd firing earlier I got mixed up lol. I'm just saying what you are probably feeling as lost power is probably either you expecting too much or the small lose in torque.

I'm i'm the same boat that your in cubanjumper. I bought the h pipe adapter for my v6 and put on the stock take off exhaust of a GT manual*(since the manual mufflers have a louder exhause note than the autos). I lost no power what so ever. I might have even gained something but it's prolly just in my head, but it does sound pretty mean compared to stock.

No it's not in your head. You gained some power but it's just not that big of a number lol. The real point of dual exhaust on our cars is to get rid of that horrible y-pipe that as you continue to mod just robs all your power.
