called MAC

hey i just got off the phone with MAC talking about exhaust systems for the 2005 v6.

The guy told me that I CAN get true dual exhaust (eliminate the Y-pipe) if I get some thing called a "prochamber" and then a catback exhuast. He also said that the prochamber can bolt directly to stock "headers."

Anyone know what a prochamber is? Is this guy right?

He also said that after the prochamber ONLY MAC catbacks would work. Is that true?

A prochamber is a version of macs midpipes. Its exactly the same thing (minus different dimentions) for all the other versions of cars.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from MAC...

Mac sucks for header back exhaust

Mac's products are alright for the price, but they have the worst customer service in the industry.

Hey hey hey now don't get defensive, mac has some great products as far as design goes. But customer service and the fact that there stuff rusts to hell like no othermakes them a "not so great" company. I'm glad you like your stuff but well, you'll see...

I know things get rusty overtime but dont drive the car during the winter and you shouldnt have to worry to much about rust.

on the topic of exhaust for my 99 v6 if i wanted to do an all out gt exhaust set up with cat back headers and x pipe woudl i need to get the adapter kit. My friend was telling me i would not need the adapter thats only if i just do a gt catback with no x pipe or headers.

If you want to get a GT take-off exhaust or if you want a shop to custom fab up a dual kit for you, you will not need a adaptor! Please don't buy one it's a rip off honestly.

Another thing our V6's don't benefit from an Xpipe like our bigger V8 bros since we are odd firing engines anyway. But you can get one it won't hurt or help however. You could just save the money and run straight pipes.

And don't bother with headers for now. you won't need them till about 350+ rwhp. Our stock exhaust manifolds flow really well for stock.

lcurle 11-08-2005 12:18 PM

yea but an H pipe would give you a little more HP and torque due to the suratic firing order. It will equalize the exhaust pressure coming out of the manifolds alot better then straight pipes.

kirsch 11-08-2005 02:55 PM

so, options for exhuast are actually:

h pipe +catback
or
x pipe +catback
or
just straight pipes coming from the manifolds?

in the third case, what type of kit do you purchase...do you have to get more than just a catback kit?

doenst ford racing and jba have shorties for your car out now?
