what mufflers then? im not lookin to spend a fortune cause i dont have it spend...just something with a decent sound.

If you just want sound then you can just get the muffler replaced with whatever sound you like and cut the tail pipe shorter so its behind the bumper and your done. Or get whatever muffler you like ( I can't stand flowmasters) and have a shop run you true dual from behind the cats back with tips. But dont pay $500 that's nuts. You need to shop around. When Knife13 had his v6 he had duals made for around $200.

ok...i know im not gonna get a v8 sound and im perfectly fine with that, i just want a good sound with true dual. i can spend a little bit but not rediculous. and i dont want to get something that ima regret getting in a few weeks.

Get true duals made and use whatever muffler you like. Me on a v6 I would use Mac or maybe hooker aero chambers that's it.

I used to have a v6 and I did the catback after the cats and installed a cherrybomb and I absolutely loved it had a nice sound to it. Made it sound like it had some muscle in that lil sixxer.

Okay. At the start of the post it says the V6 exhaust is 2.25". If I had mufflers and tips and wanted to have a muffler shop do a True Dual Exhaust for me, could I have them use 2.5" pipe so it would fit the mufflers from AM? Because if not, I would just buy the mufflers off Flowmastermufflers.com. But I was just wondering if they could do that and it would all fit right.

use high flow cats and not use mufflers is this possible and how would it sound

on a v6 your going to want mufflers, i highly doubt it sounds like your gunna want it with high flow cats, will be very raspy and with no tone most likely, your gunna have to search you tube to find which exhaust you like, it takes time so get to looking

i have magnaflow to the ypipe, and its not loud, all magnaflow arent too loud, just a nice tone to them, IMO i dont like flows but its ur car

Then you don't want SLP loudmouths.

If you want a deep tone, then get an H-pipe or true duals with a Mac,Pypes,Borla mufflers and keep the cats or go highflow on the cats. You won't have much raspyness and it will sound as deep as a v6 can.

So my new question is what are some good high flow cats to use

Alright im extremely new to all the car talk but I recently acquired a 96 v6 stang and i looking for some help. I want the dual exhaust with a nice deep sound and rumble along with the look but i want the preformance gains too i want to have a good stang to have for the driving months when there isnt snow. Ive been hearing a lot of this Mac thing what is it. So i need some help ive been noticing that there isnt much things for the 96 but there is no question of losing this car it came from a close person. So I need some help with some basic preformance needs probably a cold air intake (any suggestions) and just ideas of what to do

Alright ive seen the converter but ive heard that for example the pypes (http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-...ttedxpipe.html) look like they are just bolt on instead of having to cut and weld. ive heard that this setup is suppose to be better. i know that the link is for a 98 and that the piping size is just slightly larger so i cant use that. unless youve heard that the adapter works just as well and ive seen a lot of mentions to mac anyone know what that is?

My advice is to go to shop and have them quote you for a true duel setup. It will be way cheaper than anything you can find that's botl on an will be just as good if not better

it's not always cheaper. depends on the area and how many shops are around to compete.it was actually cheaper for me to buy a cat back then to have a shop fab me something up.

I've been looking around and I've seen the the dual exhaust by mac that comes out of the one pipe or the conversion kit and then buy a gt catback. Any comments on either those are the two ways I'm lolling at doing it cause I don't know of any exhaust shops around to make an exhaust for me so I'm just going to buy one of the systems offline

Thats basically what the Pacesetter kit is, an adapter midpipe that allows use of any stock or aftermarket GT cat-back.

Thats what I run.

I use Magnaflow. It sounds great! I don't even have headers, and I have all of my cats on. I had a shop do all of the work. It's nice and deep, rumbly. Then it will scream when I kick it to the floor. I paid $630 for this set up and don't regret a single penny of it.
It's true dual, H-pipe, 2.25" piping. I have vids, but they aren't of the best quality so it's basically just the tone of my exhaust. You can't really tell how loud it is or feel the rumble, but I think it will be nice for your reference, xdude.

It's easier to tell how it really sounds if you turn the volume up high on your computer.

Keep the cats on the car, without them it sounds way too loud and shitty...

But having a shop fabricate a dual exhaust setup and then throwing a set of magnaflows is probably the best route.

As far as modifications to the car itself goes.... split port swap... rear end.. suspension forced induction and/or stroker depending on what sort of cash you have and how much power you want...

Everyone here has been extremely helpful I was never expecting to so response so thanks and I just have one last question Ive noticed that for midpipes there are offroad and catted so if I'm looking to have this as a daily driver should I be looking for a catted h pipe or does the off road one work too?

they both work, catless is just going to be much louder and on a v6 might sound raspy it depends, but for a daily driver you might want to keep the cats.

Keep the cats... the sound without them sucks on a stock 3.8 and the check engine light will most likely appear.

I just put on a dual x pipe kit on my car without mufflers would you suggest getting headers or mufflers to get a better sound out of it but keeping the loudness to it?
