2011 Mustange - Wheel Choice/Info

hey guys,

I am new to the forums. I just recently bought a White 2011 V6 Mustang.

I would like to get some new wheels for it 1st.

I was thinking the new RTR wheels. They are 19 x 9.5. I wanted to make sure they would fit and I would have no rubbing issues.

Any help would be appreciated.

Real muscle cars dont have big wheels

If you want a poser car like most V6s go with big wheels and tires and lose some HP. All those Pre 2011 GT owners will be thankful to ya too. However, If you want to go fast and beat most GT's as well as other bully's, then go with 17 inch wheels and like P245 tires. The performance package was missleading. Bigger tires and wheels would only be useful on a twisty, turny track. Most confrontations are on straight road. I found the Base V6 with 17 inch wheels and p215s to be the fastest V6 on the lot.
I have had several races since I bought the car and still remain undefeated. Last win was a dork in a 2007 GT CS with 18 x 9 wheels on front and I believe a spacer or 18 x 10s in the back. He bailed out right after I got in 3rd gear. Of course, he was already back a car length and probably realized I hadnt even got into my power band yet. lol Stay small and modestly wide for best speed.

LMAO!

Your V6 with its "powerband" is not going to lose power from getting 18" or even 19" wheels versus 17"s. Thats a fact. Its slow, nothing can really change that. But keep thinking your 215s and 17" wheels are going to let you beat a GT/CS.

RTR would be my first choice. Love the wheels, and I believe LMR has a tire/wheel package.

That would be a great choice IMO. And you're not going to lose horsepower from going with a bigger wheels, yes the heavier wheels will make it a bit slower but you're in a V6. Not much to lose there.

Maybe he just had the sticker GT CS on the side. After all, He sure was determined to chase me down thru traffic for miles for the confrontation. A V8 wouldnt waist the gas or risk of a ticket against the V6 in a standing street race that is determined by torque. I had been avoiding racing from a standing start, because Im aware of the power band in the V6. I usually only oblige on a 30 to 40 mph roll. Where the v6 looks like the V8 and the V8 looks like the v6. But, I wanted to see what the sct tuner with 91 Bama tune might do. Ill spare you the play by play, but after 3rd was well on its way he was in my rear view. So, I went to Firebird Lake just to see what this car could do. Here is the results of my one and only time down a track in this or any other car.
R/T .957 60' 2.144 1/8 8.965 mph 81.77 1000 11.569 1/4 13.784 100.64 mph
They only let me go once because under 14 sec 1/4 you have to have a helmit

First off, I was alot more nervous than racing on the street. With the windows up, I couldnt hear anything, so I felt distant from the car. Anyways, with p215 tires the right rear felt like it was wanting to come around to my right in first gear. When i hit second, I felt like I was doing a tire burnout. Like I was on icey road for a few rotations. I got nervous because the steering in this car is touchy. I felt relief when the car hit 3rd gear and was able to enjoy going down the track. I know the car would run safer and faster with more rubber on the 17s. I rather add rubber than metal down below, its lighter and a much more pleasant ride.

/\/\/\/\/\/\ Ugh huh...

krenogin 02-06-2011 12:58 PM

Your back end wanting to come around your front end is because of your 215's not being able to hold the car in the road. If anything bigger tires will make you quicker because you can actually catch traction to move forward. That's why they use slicks.

drag_racer33 02-06-2011 10:04 PM

What is done to your V6 that allows your to run under 14 with 215s? just curious

nvm 2011... its late

But seriously you would hook up way better with a bigger tire, not spinning will make up for the minuscule ET loss

Your car looks great man! If the RTR wheels cam in 18x9 I'd have them on my car too.

rkspeck33 03-28-2011 07:15 PM

thanks. Now what to do, was thinking borla axle back exhaust. Maybe Louvers.

whitestang04 03-28-2011 07:23 PM

I would recommend some lowering springs and removing the rocker stripes.

rkspeck33 03-28-2011 07:31 PM

It would seem no one on this forum likes the stripes. Not partial either way just came on the car, however I never like lowered cars.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the stripes. I just prefer the cleaner look without. My car had pinstripes when I got it and I removed them in the first year. If you don't want to lower it then the catback would probably be one of my next choices. What louvers were you considering?

PColav6 04-22-2011 08:35 PM

Haha, trust me. In a few months, you will want to lower your car.

Pull off the gay stripes, and get one of those sweet dark stainless grilles with the offset pony.

And then do engine mods, because unlike the rest of the V6s, your engine doesn't actually suck big black dick and is a good platform to work with. ENJOY IT MOTHER FUCKER!

08mustang_gt 04-22-2011 11:58 PM

Drop it like its hot.

Make that bitch roar like chuck norris when he wakes up in the morning.

Storm trooper that mother fucker like it was darth vader's second hand man. Which means NO SIDE STRIPES!

rkspeck33 04-26-2011 12:19 PM

General Consensus on this thread, NO STRIPES!!! lol. I will probably be getting the Axle Back Borla Exhaust system. Then look into the engine. Thanks for the replies!
