Suspension woes..FML

Trying to install lowering springs on my car. Ive just gotten started on the front dirvers side and im stuck. Nothing is moving the way it should be, the spindle or whatever that controlls the steering wont budge for gods life. Me and a friend bent my prybar trying to get it off, so ive got to be doing something wrong. Ive loosened/removed all bolts it says to on the directions and NOTHING is fuckin moving. Im stuck on like step 8 on the AM directions. Help asap please!

Wait, whut?

to change the front springs you need to do, in this order:

- Break wheel lugs
- Jack front of car and support with jack stands
- Remove wheel
-Remove brake caliper
-Place jack under A-arm to hold it up
-Un-bolt front sway-bar end
-Unclip ABS line
-Unbolt strut from strut tower (in engine bay)

After that nothing should be supported the A-arm, lower the jack and the whole a-arm/brake/strut/spring setup should come down, you'll need to compress your strut to get it out of the fender, then you can knock the spring out and put the new one in.

Only thing I would add to that list is to un-bolt the outer tie rod from the spindle, but it's not even a must.

Dude fuck AMs directions. I spent 6 hours with myself and a friend and we couldnt get it. looked at ur guyses directions and boom, got it the fronts done in an hour. Look at this shit from AM. It doesnt even mention the struts! Absolutley terrible directions and SOO many unnessecary steps! That should seriously be fixed. Im now concerned about all of the bolts i loosened when trying the directions from AM. Whatever the fronts done i gotta work on the backs tommorow which hopefully will be easier.

backs are super easy, if you got a buddy with you you'll be done in under a half hour. nice job on doing it yourself man, thats half the fun.

Also whats with this part, a Pinion Snubber, is a part they supplied with the spring set. What is this piece, what does it do, and do i need it?

SeanStang 03-15-2010 08:47 PM

You bolt the snubber above the center of your rear axle, the axle will bounce off of that if/when you bottom the car out. You'll wanna swap it out because the the new one will be shorter allowing you more travel room now that you're lower.

What do i need to do to replace that? The directions on that a very poor.

Those are some shitty directions, they say to pull the a-arms off. lol
