hey guys has anybody used the motoblue underdrive pulley set off rpmoutlet.com my buddy just ordered them for his 02 3.8L he is just wanting some simple performance bolt ons he already has cai, 65mm tb, LT's, o/r H, flow 40's, and an sct handheld tuner, any input on these would be awesome thanks

SnTBakosFinest 12-24-2009 03:13 PM

Nope. Haven't heard a whole lot of good about RPMoutlet though..

Wouldn't do UDP's anyway, they're kinda pointless.

It'll be a minor gain. Atleast better then something like a throttlebody or cai..

Yeah, but with UDP's you gain and lose.. You gain, what? 5-6 HP? Maybe a little more/less... But you lose revolutions on the water pump and on the alternator, less water moving and less power flowing.. Just not worth it to me.

Yup.

i think udps balance out what they take away... they would have to. The crank pulleys soooo friggin huge. If you wasnt making more than 12v out of the alternator then ud be screwed and couldnt charge the batt.. u know more engineering was put into it than that!

they dont. They take away power from the waterpump and the alternator and that allows more power for the rear wheels.

I can't deny that I've thought about UDP's, but I haven't gotten them because I feel the same. I also don't think that the 5-10 (estimation) gain is worth the $200+ you will pay for the damn things.

Anyway, I have heard good things about the Moto Blue pullies, but I can't say the same for RPMOutlet. I would never purchase anything from there, with the horror stories I've read...

Bullitt5339 12-28-2009 01:52 PM

You don't think it's worth $300 for underdrive pulleys for 5-10rwhp, but people will flock to spend $600 and up on headers for 12rwhp.......$200 for a CAI that give you nothing. $330 for a throttle body that gives you maybe 2rwhp. $150 for an offroad X that gives you around 6rwhp...$450 for a catback exhaust that gives you nothing.

It's just funny how some things are OK, but others aren't worth the money.

But I have Underdrive Pulleys on my car, and they're fine. I drove in the 110 degree heat all week at Mustang Week with no overheating problems with the air conditioning on. Sat in traffic for hours at a time with no charging problems.

well i have the steeda udp's on my car and i am happy with them, i could feel a slight differnce with acceleration, and they look so much nicer than the rusted pulleys i pulled off and much lighter weight, I still get 14.4 volts with car running and 12.1 when its off, a/c still blows super cold i never turn the fan past the first notch, heat still works great, i also have a good system with head unit component speakers, and a 12 inch L7 running at 2 ohms with 500 watts rms and everything works great

rpm outlet is a joke, only use them if u have to, i bought this udp and it took 1 1/2 months to come, and the pullys/belt camt in a box..mabey 6in by 8in and all the pullys where scratched and dented. good products- horrible shipping, customer service.

spike_africa 01-17-2010 07:11 PM

UDP are worth it for sure. The v6 cars have a really nice gain of 6-8rwhp from just a freaking pulley swap. I don't see how that is not worth it.

I have UDP on my car and like them alot. No problems with charging or cooling.

I bought a USP UDP and 10% Overdrive pulley from VMP tuning. Noticeable acceleration gain but after a while I ran into charging problems. Apparently the 4.6s can deal with the UDPs fine but V6s aren't geared for the swap without also stepping up to a HO alternator. Maybe my alternator was going south to begin with but I got a 220 amp HO alternator and that balanced everything out again. More power to everything too, plugs, lights, stereo, etc. I just cant jump anyone or it'll fry their ignition!

I agree, don't purchase anything from rpmoutlet. UDP's are great, but buy them from somewhere else.
