Question about exhaust conversion!
Alright so here is the deal.
I have a 2007 V6 Mustang and I want to change the exhaust Rather than spend 450 plus on a conversion kit I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get Pypes 409 Stainless Steel Cut & Clamp X-Pipe from http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-0509-v6-xpipe.html and then put Pypes 409 Stainless Steel MID-MUFFLER Catback with Polished 304 Tips from http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-...r-catback.html the reason that I am asking is because the Mid-Muffler Catback is made for GT...but I was wondering since I am getting the x-pipe if it would still be compatible any help anyone could provide would be extremely helpful! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)))))))))))))))) |
Honestly you could probably get it cheaper to just have whatever exhaust shop you go to, custom fab. your h or x pipe. The only plus to having a x pipe is a very slight gain at your high end rpms. H pipes from what i have heard sound dramatically better.

Death's right. Right about it probably being cheaper to have ur muffler shop fab you one, AND right about H Pipes sounded much better. I had an X pipe on my car for about three days. It sounded like complete and utter SHIT. I took it off and sold it to a guy with an 03 cobra. My understanding is that, on 2v cars, if you feel you MUST go with an x pipe, get a catted one. Otherwise they just sound like ass. I have had an H pipe ever since and it sounds a HELL of alot better. Look at it this way, the factory puts an h pipe on the cars for a reason. If x pipes were that much better don't you think they'd come with them? As for your choice in Pypes catback, i recently changed from Flowmasters to Pypes Violators and I couldn't be happier!!! I love them. Just my .02

Ok, so getting an x-pipe would be a bad idea. i get that.
Where could I go to get a custom fabricated h-pipe? Would any regular exhaust shop do that? |
Any decent muffler shop should be able to fab an h pipe for you. :)

So your looking at around $480 to do that setup plus taxes. A decent exhaust shop should be able to cut your Y-pipe and make true duals for you for less then that with whatever mufflers you like. Though its usually cheaper to buy the mufflers yourself and have them install them when they make your true duals for you.
