X pipe question

Ready to get my new exhaust.

Been using AM and here's the setup I want.

Headers: Pypes Polished 304 Stainless Steel Shorty Headers (05-10 V6)

Midpipe: Magnaflow Tru-X X-Pipe Catted

Catback: Magnaflow 'Magnapack' Catback System

Now my question is...

Do I need to use the magnaflow or pypes midpipe since I'm a v6, or can I just run this X pipe.

Thanks

If the mid pipe says its for your model v6 then there shouldn't be an issue..

Well it says GT. But if I'm ditching the Y pipe anyway, couldn't I just bolt the new midpipe up to my headers?

as far as i know, no.

The length and the direction IIRC is a little bit different. And the size of the pipe may be different as well.

If you must have a X pipe then get this one Here.

Then you can run any GT catback you want to. Not a axle back, but a catback for 05-09 cars. And I would not bother with the shorty headers right now.

hmm, well I found a Universal Tubing kit, and was thinking H pipe setup....but would that work on my 6?

this is the kit im looking at.

I'm hoping all I'll need to do is weld, and attach to my new headers, and whatever axleback I want...

SnTBakosFinest 08-30-2009 02:02 PM

Well, the problem with that is that universal, may not be universal, it may not just be easy as welding it and bolting it up...

Now, this is a little more on the expensive side, however I think you will be much happier with it:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-0509-v6-xpipe.html - x pipe midpipe, it reuses the cats, but isn't a bad deal..it'll still be pretty decent..

And that allows you to bolt up a GT catback..so you can run something like this:

Don't get me wrong, its almost 800 bucks, but overall like I said you'd be more satisfied, and it allows you to use a GT catback, gives you a much better fitment, and will probably be higher quuality.
