Mustang Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit

I might start working on my exhaust system on my V6.

I feel like this is probably the first step to make the most badass exhaust system possible, no?

I'm not too familiar with the exhaust system, but am I correct in assuming that the cat-back part connects to the end of this adapter? Or are there other piece(s) that I'm missing?

Two more things...

If I only have the money to get the dual exhaust adapter kit, I should hold out until I get the cat-back part, or no?

Also, how much do you think it would run me to get the adapter installed after I bought it?

Thanks for your help people

heres a link to the adapter

I'm guessing that you are wanting to do this yourself, right? If you're going to take it to a shop to get it installed, have them fabricate you a H-pipe. It cost me fifty bucks to have a shop make me a H-pipe, i just payed for the super 40's and they made the rest. Cost me three hundred for everything.

So, in short: if you're doing it yourself, get the kit. If you're going to have a shop do it, have them fabricate you a kit.

Check out the exhaust sticky at the top of this page. It will answer most of your questions.

I looked at the sticky, and it did answer some of my questions.

Just to be clear, I can get a shop to fabricate a dual exhaust (I don't want to do it myself), then I just have to buy the mufflers?

yes, at least mine did. You can buy the mufflers through the shop or buy them and bring them in to the shop. If that shop knows anything, they'll be able to fab up a pipe

Most exhaust shops are only going to have flowmasters. Its sad but true at almost every place. That's why I always tell you v6 guys to go listen to exhaust clips and then buy whatever muffler you like rather then the shit the exhaust shop sells.

Can I get an H-pipe fabricated and not get mufflers, or do I have to get the mufflers or it will sound like crap?

And to I have to get catalytic converters on it to pass inspection?

get mufflers and just leave the cats that you have now

You need cats to pass at most places, especially if they do a visual inspection. You can just have them cut the stock Y and weld in that adapter and then run any GT catback or have them fab the whole thing up for you. And yes you need mufflers unless you want your car to sound like a bag of shit.
