does cornering suck once you throw one on?

To answer your question,,yes. The traction-loc unit is designed as to not be a "posi" unit the whole time. This way when you are turning corners the outside wheel is allowed to travel the further distance. If you have a truel locker rear end it can become quite treacherous if both wheels are driving the car the whole time. Be prepared for the rear end to come around on ya a whole lot quicker if both wheels are pushing the car. Some of the true locker rear ends also make some sort of chattering noise when turning. My traction-loc gave up the ghost at 134k miles and Im only a one wheel wonder right now. Im just gonna rebuild the stock unit for now since Im not a dedicated drag racing type.

how much worse is it? am i going to be straight line performance only after the swap?

neither one of those are lockers so that doesnt apply here. bt yes lockers do chatter around corners and like a posi if you juice it around a corner it will get sideways.

exactly correct. both of the are limited slip rear ends. they allow one wheel to spin faster in corners. you guys are thinkin of a spool rear end or posi. thats where both wheels spin at exactly same rate at all times.
