power steering resevoir

I am going to drain my power steering fluid and put in Royal Purple, but I don't know how much to use. Does anyone, know the volume of the resevoir in ounces? Thanks

Id love to be able to tell ya...but hell...I didnt know royal purple made power steering fluid. or why it would be necessary for that matter... other than an all out race condition perhaps.

FYI I think it takes mercron v tranny fluid not regular power steering fluid so check before you do anything. As for the amount I think it was 3 or 4 quarts on mine.

tranny fluid? maybe i should check, i drained my resevior and used regular prestone power steering to fill mine back up. anyway, just add a little at a time and use your little dipstick to know when to stop.

he's right, look at the capacity and specification section, atf fluid. its for a 97 but i would think it would be the same for all 94-04.

ATF or pretty much anything advertised as steering fluid can be used. And considering the problems that I've had over the past year with my steering fluid, I would advise that you flush that fluid out and put in the best you can get your hands on. I've had steering fluid get hot and foam up on me at AutoX events randomly over the past year and it was not a good experience at all. I actually had to leave in the middle of an event to go get fluid and try to flush out the crappy fluid.

I bought a cooler a while back for the steering fluid but it was too big to fit anywhere on the front of the car, dual system cooler. The plan is to run a smaller hayden cooler in conjunction with the stock cooler.

Hell most people never change the fluid in there power steering setups and then wonder why with 50-100k miles why it makes noise etc.. It makes me laugh.

My neighbors girlfriend's Mustang can be heard coming down the street because of the PS, loudest I have heard on any car.

Open the hood on almost any fox body mustang and they all do it too.

Not sure if your cars have them as well, but Audis have a small screen/filter in the reservoir that can get clogged. People often forget to clean that while replacing the fluid, and it can cause a lot of problems (including the all too annoying whine.)
