2002 v6 exhaust help

I am wanting to change out my Ypip into a H so i can have true dual. now do i need to get new headers to do this? and what else would i need to make this happen?

thanks

just an H for a v6 and any gt catback will work

dr3w2 11-28-2008 08:44 AM

yea i figured that. I can keep the stock headers? and if i was to change should i get long or shortys?

ihop1411 11-28-2008 05:18 PM

im pretty sure you can just keep your stock headers

btw man i used to live in belleville...like 16 years ago lol

ah word its ok. i just moved here from jersey. anyone got more info if i need to change out my headers or can i use the stock ones with an new hpipe

Unless your going to do some more motor work or run a nitrous or supercharger I would not bother with long tube headers. And you can use your stock exhaust manifolds with one of those bolt on H-pipes for the v6 and any GT catback you like. Though MAC sounds the best on them.

hmm mac i was thinking about flowmasters or magnaflow. ill look into mac now though. could anyone help me out with a good hpipe for the 02 v6

Here is an H-pipe and me I hate flowmasters so I will strongly suggest against them.

hmm ive seen a coulpe like that have said off road now whats that mean?

Dave04Mustang 11-30-2008 09:39 AM

off road means it has no catalytic converters (cats) so there not emissions legal

dr3w2 12-02-2008 07:57 AM

does having the converter take away from any power or sound?

Havokk 12-02-2008 08:07 AM

Having catalytic converters doesn't necessarily 'take away' from your power or sound as much as it does "alter" the sound. Much raunchier without them indeed.

hmm well in illinois there is two countys with random inspections and i live in one of the two so idk. what happens if i get inspected and end up having no converter?

Then you will not pass emissions. If your state requires them, you need them, unless it is an off-road vehicle. But that doesn't sound like the case so make sure you have converters dr3w2.
