Any obvious problems or defects you can see?

Records check is clear aside from the already mentioned typo.
It drives and sounds really nice to me. You guys have more experiance though, so if you see something let me know. I'll get engine pics as soon as I can. |
I like the color and it looks nice but lose the car bra it says gt and car bras are ugly
I'd also remove the line in the center of the door |
Yeah, I thought he nose mask was kinda quirky. Is removing it a simple unbolt job?
The fact that is has the wrong mask and the line on the door (I'd missed that till you pointed it out) makes me wonder if it's had other things done to it. The lady selling it doesn't seem to think it's anything other than a nice V6 mustang. I'll have to look under the hood when I get a chance and see if there is any changes I reconize. |
Looking at the stock factory photos what I see is:
it's got the wheels and brakes from the convertable. It's equipped with ABS. I lacks the air scoop thingy in the hood that most of the pictures have. It's got the nose mask for the wrong model. It's got that molded line down the door. As far as I know it doesn't have fog lights though I didn't look that low on the car yet (not all of the factory pictures do so no biggie) You guys spot anything else? |
if its being sold by a private owner and not a dealer, i'd insist on taking it to your local mechanic. have them look at the transmission, the engine, the shocks and springs. have them check the radiator and the oil. check the AC system and the brakes. seriously, you don't want to buy something that will need a lot of work. doubt it will if its a little old lady.
as far as the bra, meh... someone who didn't know the difference between a V6 and a GT probably gave it to her to keep the front end protected. take it off to make sure that there is no orange peel paint, which will indicate if the car has been in a front end fender bender and was repaired and repainted. |
It's sold at a dealer. Primary contact person is the lot owner who's a nice old lady who's been donig it for 29 years. She's been extreamly polite and so far has let me do pretty much anything I want with the car (except keep it for free lol ). Wife bought a 2000 Sebring LXi from the same lot and it's been great for her (though I don't fit well in it). She alos said she'd knock like 1000 to 1500 off the price since we bought a car from her already.
Hm, while obvious I hadn't thought to look under the mask. Under the mask should look just like the rest of the car right? |
yes
|
seems good. Yes i would check under the car bra. not baad miles and she is willing to lower the price! i would also check the tires and make sure they are in good shape if not you can ask them to put new tires on before you buy it and do it for free. other than that look at the engine and if it drives smoth and the transmission does not like clunk or shift weird (it is an auto right?) you should be good to go. i hope it works out for you man!

Hoodscoops did not come factory on V6s. And if it's stock, as it appears to be, it will not have fogs.
As far as driving it, it is a automatic. I can hardly feel it shift when it does. Not sure if thats good or bad. |
If this is an 03/04, then it looks about right to me. Just take off the front bra and check it out, but everything else that it has on it seems exactly right.
|
Can't really help you out over the internet with a few photo's, you have to go threw the car and check it out.

A firm shift you can feel is better.
I wish I had a j-mod:( |
Mileage and price? I know asking the price may not be good and I don’t claim to have the best manners:eek: but just want to make sure you get a good deal!:flamed:
|
Aprox 80k miles at about $6000
2003 Automatic. |
Miles are a little high but 6 isn't that bad I'd see if you can get it closer to 5 though
|
nice. 80k is high but not bad. The price is not to bad either. I would try for 5k as well, it cant hurt to try. !!!!!!!!!!!
|
Miles aren't too bad if it's been taken care of. So check on that, then take the bra off. If you like what you see, negotiate a price. $5k is reasonable...
|
List price is 7995. Lady said she'd give me a really good deal on the car and knock a lot off that.
It started out as a rental fleet car. Auctioned off and I don't have many records after the fleet use. |

Got some pictures of the engine, wheels/brakes/ and the wheel well.
I'm a bit confused by the appearance of the gray metal thing in pic 236bq. Isn't that where the throttle body is supposed to be? I'm assuming it's in the engine somewhere. I circled a piece in red. Is that the throttle body? I'm hoping I spotted it correctly. Do you guys see anything out of place? |
That is the throttle body yes
|
Woot! I did spot it correctly :D
|
basic automotive knowledge FTW
|
lol looks fine, deff check under the bra though
|
I did. Aside from being a bit wet and slightly dirty it looked like the rest of the car.
