whistle noise

I've recently just installed that cheap air intake from AM and I get a whistle now whenever i push the gas petal, my buddy says it is a vacuum problem, anyboady got any advise?

stanger00 07-28-2008 12:28 PM

its normal.

doobie 07-28-2008 01:00 PM

lol, its just because you've converted your air intake from all rubber tubing to a metal tube. air makes a different noise when it goes through the different types of material. like stanger00 said, normal.

Is the whistling from cold air intakes loud enough that you dont get used to it? Or is it just a new sound that you get used to?

theezach 07-28-2008 02:25 PM

I can get used to it now that it is normal its not very loud and im not sure if you can hear it outside the car.

stanger00 07-28-2008 03:02 PM

if you want a whistle thats annoying and never goes away than go buy yourself a vortech or procharger...otherwise the small whistle from the intake aint nothin. i barely heard mine when i had it installed.

hey theezack, other than the new sound what is your opinion on the am cai. i was considering one but i just got a k&n filter and removed my air silencer. i still wonder about the am cai. and wether i should have bought one. i definately like the way they look on the customer pics on their website.

it looks good yes, adds a whistle inside the car and its not too loud, but its noticeable. As for hp, if anything its barely noticeable.

I also have another question, I have what sounds like a TOB chirp, but the transmission is brand spankin new and I think the chirp is associated with the clutch petal vibrating, because when you stop it with your foot the chrip goes away. is there any way to adjust the clutch petal, like tighten it or something?

Chip can help!

William, the owner, is fantastic. You can email him with a question, and he gets back to you fast......I think he chills during the wkd, so email him during the week w/questions.

I like that sound from my CAI, but some don't.......

I think this is a stretched clutch cable.....I am about to get a BBK adjustable one, cuz I have the same prob. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.......http://mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy0...T1=BBK16095+01

The general thought is that the stock OEM ford cable is the best. Even places like Maximum motorsports sells only Ford OEM cables.

i was told by someone to get aa new firewall adjustable adapter and new clutch quadrant from upr products and that would get rid of the chirp.

it's definetly a TOB problem and it is very common in stangs.
