do you think this would work?

do you think if i got a catted H-pipe for a GT, do you think if i take it to the exhaust shop that they could remove my cats and put that on? could they fab it up to fit right? also what mufflers would sound best on a V6? just curious to see what you guys think is best.

dont think so, I believe the manifolds on the 6's exit in a slightly different place, and also at a different angle. Putting an H pipe or an X pipe on a GT is a PITA sometimes, getting it to fit snugly at the manifolds. I woudl think it would be even harder to put a GT made H on a 6.

hmm well im wanting a better sounding exhaust. opinions?

get a pipe made for your car.

a midpipe has to be for a sixer. There may be some way to modify it but in the long run its much easier to just buy something for your car

EDIT: also it will never be as loud as a gt and still sound good. I've heard a borla that was loud but it costs a lot

go on youtube and look up clips of your year and engine car. thats what i did before i picked my exhaust.

IMO get a catted h-pipe and dual exhaust for a GT, it should fit. it sounds pretty good, and wil make you some power... not a lot. you don't have restrictive headers, so no sense getting new ones until you start building power.

however, if you really want to turn your car into something powerful, i'd stay away from exhaust. do a head/cam/intake upgrade first, and then you can do some LT headers and full exhaust.

he can use the catback from the GT but the H pipe he will have to buy make for a v6 or get a custom made one for the best fit

The mod motor is much wider then the 3.8 motor. You have a true dual setup now don't you?

captchas 04-19-2008 10:44 AM

do a check of the exhaust companies. some do have h and x pipes for your car or something that works well.
on my 07 i have a x-pipe and mid pipes from pypes. i'm useing factory stock gt mufflers. sound wise you don't hear till your foot is in it. then it gets loud " the x-charger blower unit is louder" but still its not loud enough to turn a law mans head and get a ticket for the drive by laws

that'll take a nice cam or the 2 cylinder mod.

engineman312 04-20-2008 03:25 AM

i'm with codiddy... get a cam for like, $400 from supersix, and you'll be set without having to do a motor swap... esp if all you really want is a more rumbly tone.

spike_africa 04-20-2008 07:05 AM

Adding a H pipe in wont do alot to make it sound meaner. You could do a cam swap, but you should pick a cam as a last mod after all the other mods are done as a cam is ment to make everything work together. Basically you dont just buy a cam for sound.
