how to plugs ?? anyone?

I did a search but to no avail.....
i've heard theyre a bitch, ive heard theyre simple....
anyone have a good how to?
I know in my dads taurus (24V DOHC) we had to remove the Intake Man.
im used to hondas.... just pop the wire, shove in the socket and extension, pull out plug, insert new, re-attach cable.......

Any help will be appreciated, im sure V6_mustang_power is wanting to know the same thing

On the 1998 v6 It's just that easy not sure if they changed it in later years

just don't go crazy torqueing it down

dont the 99/98's have the same engine.... i think your IM (and head) is different.....

Yeah engine should be the same but I have never looked under the hood of a 1999-2004 so I don't know if stuff has been moved at all

You will need to remove the intake tube. Other than just being a little tight in some places it's pretty easy. Do them one at a time so you don't get wires crossed. Use anti-seize and make sure they are torqued correctly since they are alum. heads.

sounds good, and like a good excuse to detail the bay a bit

The engines are not the same on 1994-1998 and 1999-2004 mustangs with the 3.8 all you have to do is remove the plug wire on the 94-98 and take out the plug on the side of the head, install new plug and put plug wire back on its easy. Its not like its an Ls1 or Lt1 lol.

on the 99-04 engines the driver's side are all pretty easy except for the farthest one back by the master cylinder- that one takes a small hand and an extension. The passenger side is much easier if you've got a CAI or stock just take it off at the throttle body and it makes it much easier. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the gap is somewhere between .052-.056

tsumi88 03-27-2008 07:53 AM

shouldn't they be pre-gapped?

spike_africa 03-27-2008 08:14 PM

You always check the gap of a plug before installing it. stock is something huge like .054"
