02 3.8L V6 Mustang, first mod?

Okay, so I just bought my Mustang, and I am thinking of what my first mod should be to it. I have been thinking it over and I am thinking I should probably go with 4.10s based on what I have heard or seen. I just wanted some more advice whether or not this is a good idea/investment and worth my time and money. And what kind of increases I should be looking to see from it?

Depends on what you mean by increase? Installing gears will not increase your HP. The 4.10 gears will allow you to accelerate much quicker. If you planning on getting the gears done you should also plan on getting a T-lock done as well, since they are in the same general loation. I had 3.73 gears and t-lock done on my 2000 v6 in October 07.

Everything else for mods depend on what you what to do with your V6. If your looking for power then save for turbo/SC.

4.10's & tlock would be a great choice. Exhaust and intake together would not even be close to the same affect. Nor would an UDP. Also be sure to get a tuner with the gears to recalibrate your speedo/odometer.

get the 4.10's, t-lok, and an sct tuner. that's what i did first and you will feel an entirely different car!

gears/t-lock is a great first mod. however

youll need to start adding higher rpm HP mods aftter to help get what youll lose on the high end.

-25% UDP
-1.73 high ratio RR's
-ebay CAI

can't go wrong with any of these.

after those 3 mods are on then do some exhaust mods. the exhaust flows well enough and wont make much difference if done before bolt-ons.

I have sucessfully murdered this post with trying to include links, so....Two 4.10 gear kits, one comes with Speed Cal and the other with an SCT tuner. If I could get the same performance boost with the two packs I would rather go with the speed cal, to save on money. But if it would be a lot better to get the SCT Tuner with it, then I could save up a little more and go that route. And also about the T-lock, I was raised by a guy who didn't know a whole lot about cars, and if he did, he never taught me. What I know I was self taught, and I will admit, this one went over my head.

T-lock is to make both rear wheels have power instead of just 1.

if you have that and the gears installed at the same time you can save money.

Sweet, thanks for that link. I tried googling it every way I could think of and couldn't find anything.

welcome ;)

are you a 5spd or an Auto. If you are an auto you need the SCT tuner, if you are a 5spd, than you can do either package. the speedcal will be fine as far as recalibration goes, but you will see no power gain from it, since it is not a tuner. I would go with the SCT package since it allows lots of tune ability, for future mods to come.

i am an auto, so that pretty much made my choice for me. Thanks a lot for the advice!
