Problem

I have a 3.9 v6. Today I was stopped at a redlight, and when i went to give the car the gas it didnt want to take off like it normally did. Its never done this before. I let someone else drive it and they said it did the same thing. Yesterday, I had a CAI put on it. I dont know if maybe that has something to do with it or what. Can some help me??

go check the CAI and make sure all the clamps are tight. aka...no un-metered air getting into the engine.

I dont think its the CAI. When I go to take off, it kinda feels like something in the rear-end of the car.

Ummm Need more info.
Did the engine stumble or sputter when ya hit the gas? Or did it feel more like a tranny issue?
Also another thing, I dont know if that 3.8... (yes three point EIGHT) came with traction control or if any V6s did but... if it did, and you tried to take off to fast then you got wheel spin and T/C kicked in and that feels a bit different when your not used to it.
But yeah more info is definately needed!

Are you NAILING the gas when you do this?

Wrong... Late New edges were 3.9's.. ;)

We need some more info about your issue, as it stands it could be alot of known issues.

it is a 3.9 04 mustange the problem is the rear end is slippin an we are trying to find out the prolbem we think it is the tranny or the rear end or the gears and it has artefter market parts on it

SSSTANG 03-14-2008 05:36 PM

The rear end has after market parts?

Such as?

Dave04Mustang 03-14-2008 05:37 PM

from the aviator/info you gave it looks like this is the same car as ponyexpress. Did you two install the intake or did someone else? If this is just starting to happen and you say you had it installed yesterday I would check to make sure its installed correctly. (claps around the filter are tight, clamp around the throttle body is tight, and its securely fastened around the MAF. Like zig said if there are gaps there is more air being let into the engine and the car doesn't realize it resulting in the car not running correctly. It doesn't hurt to at least check so your 100% otherwise maybe broken axle depending how hard your pushing it and what you have done to the car. If its just an intake and exhaust I can't see anything happening to the rear end

mustang121 03-14-2008 05:42 PM

no the rear-end doesnt have after market parts. yes this is the same car as ponyexpress (that is my bf) the car is really mine...anyways he installed it yesterday along with the screamin demon. I just had someone look at it and the claps and everything are on tight. so i dont know what it could be. the car its just not taking off right and the rear-end feels like something is not right with it. Can shifting an automatic for 1st to drive affect the car in anyway?

Dave04Mustang 03-14-2008 05:48 PM

possibly a problem with the rear control arms. That would be more of the rear end moving around however but at least its something to check you may have ripped it
