You should the exhaust first. I recommend Magnaflow or Mac.
You can replace the stock muffler or you can go dual most go dual.
Dual FTW!

go to a local shop and ask about pricing for a dual exhaust system

should i be looking for a full system or just use some of the stock stuff. for some reason im stuck on this cold air thing. oh and i live near hairsburg.

all a CAI does is look cool. Thats th only reason i have one. No one sees your CAI unless you open the hood.
Everyone can see and HEAR your exhaust system.

You dont need to use any of the old stock parts. Just got to a shop and have them make a custom system for you. 2.5 in pipe you can get an X or an H pipe its up to you.

I went single, but I'm a cheap bastard. plus duals on an s197 doesn't net any extra power if you still have stock cats and headers

yeah thanks for the input. and i know its really over asked but do u use k&n or bbk?
thanks,

tristang 01-22-2008 07:13 PM

or should i go
http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-cai-9498-v6.html
thanks,

Any of them will do fine or you can get a cheap one off of ebay like earlier stated. I personally have a K&N Intake system. As for the exhaust we have a large exhaust thread read this: https://mustangboards.com/v6-tech-fo...es-setups.html and all of your questions will be answered. If you still are not clear after reading then ask some questions that are still having you confused.

yeah i just looked at that and i deffently know a lot more. so if i went with shorty headers and a v6 duel exust adapter, and i think i need a gt cat back with that. if that was just rubush just tell me. i new nothing befor about ten min. ago so. what will that run price wise. (is there a better way)

If you go headers I would go long tubes (which may cause you not to pass emissions depending on how hardcore your state is) or just keep the stock ones because shorty headers really don't do a ton if your sticking with the basic bolt ons so its not really worth the hassle. As for the midpipe (which is the X, H, Y) right now you have a Y pipe. You can either get an exhaust system that attaches to your stock Y pipe and splits the exhaust to both ends of the car making it look like a dual exhaust (this is the cheapest way) OR you can take off the Y pipe and replace it with an H or X pipe (I prefer an H since a sixer is an even firing engine an X doesn't make much sense. The cheapest way to go would to probably buy a couple mufflers that you want take it to a shop and ask them to make you a dual exhaust setup with a custom H pipe and then they will weld in the mufflers that you bring in. Otherwise you can buy basically any GT catback and bring that in and have them fab it up to make it work with a custom H pipe. Or you can just buy an H pipe (needs to be made for a v6) and then any GT catback and bring that to a shop but I would just make a guess and say this will be the most expensive option because you really are not buying anything from them.

Price range is hard to say depending on how much you have them install. Just the catback would probably run you around 200-250 so maybe doing a midpipe and catback would be around 350 but thats a total guess you have to call around and get quotes.
