Do you mean noise when you have the wheel turned to full lock? or is it constant?

its constant when the car is running and when its in full lock i cant figure it out

Its one of two things, bad power steering pump (more then likely) or bad steering rack. If its the pump sometimes a simple fluid change will help, but if the bearings are already toast it wont matter. What year is the car?

Seems to me that I remember there being an issue with air getting into the power steering system. That could be what's causing your noise (mine too now that I think about it), but as I remember it's a pretty easy fix. I seem to remember something about making sure the system is full to the cold line on the dip stick and then starting up and turning the steering full lock to lock repeatedly to work the air out. Once this happened the fluid in the power steering pump reservoir would look really foamy but the noise would go away. You'd usually end up adding a little more fluid afterwards. I could be wrong.....I forgot most of this stuff when I stopped turning wrenches for a living......sean

Sometimes air can get into the system if you have dismantled some part of the power steering system. In this case the way to bleed it is to simply turn the wheel back and forth over and over again and fill as needed till you work most of the air out. Just driving the car around will also work but take a little longer. If you have this problem all the time chances are your power steering pump is bad or air is getting into your system somehow. Have you checked the power steering fluid level?
