Maf???

one ? where is the MAF in a 2001 mustang auto at? if i have to clean it or not i have not done so.. i just have a bbk intake and gt exhaust.

it looks like: http://www.muscularmustangs.com/maf3.jpg If everything works fine don't mess with it. Its usually by the filter on your air intake. Pretty hard to miss

right behind the air filter normally. its the black plastic thing with the 4 wires coming out of it. The sensor is a little wire shrouded by black plastic walls in the air stream. Don't reinstall it backwards.

You need to clean it when it gets dirty. A little carb cleaner is the traditional solution but I'd consult your dealer's service department.

BTW.. BBK fenderwell CAI's are notorious for screwing up MAF readings. If you're trying to solve such a problem change back to stock and disconnect the battery for 10mins and see if the problem goes away.

Then you can start taking cleansers to the sensitive electronics. Oh yeah... don't actually touch the little wire in the MAF sensor with anything solid.

hmm, i haven't had any problems w/mine. what do they do, make the check engine light come on redneck?

spike_africa 07-05-2007 06:12 PM

its what the engine uses to see how much air is being sucked in hence the name Mass airflow sensor.

lol spike. no i ment how does the bbk F up? what does it do to the car? i kno it messes the sensor up because of the bend before the sensor. but what happens to teh car when it "messes" up? throw a code?
