My Future Upgraded V6

After much research, and forum discussion, I have pieced together my total project 2004 V6 Import Killer/Daily Driver. This is what I am looking at. Feel free to comment and/or criticize. If you think I could improve something, or if I have left anything out, please say so.

4.2 Stroker (complete engine)
Single Turbo Setup from TMA (Eventually, wont be put on right away)
Detroit Truetrac LSD
Motive 3.73 Rear Gears (with bearing kit)
Aluminum Driveshaft
SPEC Stage 2 Clutch
SPEC Steel Flywheel
Ford GT Fuel Pump
60lb Fuel Injectors
MGW Short Throw Shifter
G-Force T-5 transmission upgrade kit
Steeda Aluminum Lower and Upper Rear Control Arms
Alloy Steel Strut Tower Brace
Steeda Rear Shock Tower Brace
Steeda Sport Springs

I dont think I've left anything out. What do you guys think? Especially since it's going to be a daily driver, and wont ever see a track.

I'll believe it when I see it...

And yes 60lbs inj are huge not to mention you left out a MAF to go along with them.

Cheddarbob 06-14-2007 12:39 PM

30lb or 40lb is good

what is your exhaust

Bwhipple 06-14-2007 12:44 PM

Instead of doing all that. Why not just start with a V8. Not trying to be a dick. Its just you are getting a new motor anyway.

Or like all us who love are v6's he can just put turbo, s/c, or nitro on it, y waste so much money on a GT when he can turn his v6 into a beast for half the price

You'll see it eventually. I'm overseas right now, hence all the info gathering. Of course, I wont be doing this all at once. It will be done in steps. Like suspension first, then rear end, then tranny, etc.

Because I've heard theres a lot more involved with a V8 conversion. It will be cheaper in the long run I believe to go it this route.

I've decided to disregard the whole 4.2 Stroker engine. Instead, I am going to use SSMs Stage 3 PowerPak with all the upgrades they have listed. I'm still going to get the Turbo from TMA, but the PowerPak is going to be fine to handle it, rather than getting a whole friggin engine. Any comments?

I don't mean to be a jackass or anything..but..v6 bashing or that "why dont you just buy a v8" stuff isn't really allowed. if you don't like the ideas going along then don't put your .2 in.

Theres guys around here that have 6ers that'll but a 8 to shame. Price differences on the two are a biggie. I bought my 6..if i would've had the cash i could've dropped a decent turbo on it and still ended up saving a couple grand instead of buying a 8.

As for the powerpak ect...

if you want something that'll be stable and eat up ricers and be a decent DD...

Exhaust
Gears
Forced Induction
Tune

We're talking.... 300-1000 for an exhaust
Gears..i forgot how much..

Induction... alot of guys around here will say a good setup for Nitrous is..about a grand

Turbo would end up like..6 same with a S/C

Tuner would be 400 not counting the dynotune itself.

So you're looking at a pretty penny already.

You can do cams ect.. its purely up to you.. if you're wanting to put out big v8 numbers..well..expect to pay well over 10 grand.

vmptuning.com procharger setup: 4500 says everything you need.

3.73's, bearing kit, t-lok, oil, install: around 800 for me.

I checked that setup out. I like that they put it all together for you. I think I might go with that, plus the PowerPak Stage 3 from SSM, along with the 3,73s, bearing kit, and Detroit Truetrac. Sound good?

v6'stang 06-24-2007 10:17 AM

heck yea. only thing i've ordered from vmp was foglights, and damn it came w/everything, only thing it didn't come w/was a towel to wipe the sweat off, lol. so i'm guessin' he's got this kit set up for ya. also, in another post sumwhere on here someone threw out the website www.newtakeoff.com i checked it out, they've got some good deals on the 8.8 w/t-lok's and 3.73's. might wanna check that out. but i don't think the t-lok is as good as the truetrac. anyways, when ya get all this stuff, lemme know how the stage 3 powerpak and the s/c go. those are 2 things i'm considering inthe future. only thing w/the powerpak is it doesn't come w/forged internals, which idk if ya need w/the s/c. i'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but 11psi sounds like quite a bit to be used on stock internals. hopefully someone else will chime in w/more knowledge on that.

Well, if I was going to need forged internals for a turbo, chances are I'm going to need forged internals for a s/c. I'd be better off going with the 3.8 longrod from SSM. It has everything. The 8.8 rear end from that site is probably a good deal, and I'd more than likely throw the Detroit Truetrac on that instead of taking chances with the 7.5.

v6'stang 06-24-2007 06:17 PM

see i'm confused about the forged internals part, i think spike said tealbeast had that kit on his 'stang w/stock internals, now idk if it blew or he just felt like goin' to a TT setup. also, on SSM will the HI-PO and Longrod 3.8 stuff fit our stock 3.8 blocks?? i'm new to all this internal engine stuff so please bare w/me. and that rear end setup sounds like a good idea. i think if i do endup doin' the pwrpak, forged internals and s/c i'm gonna keep the 7.5 till it blows and then go for an 8.8 or poss. a 9". but all this stuff is in the kinda distant future.

The HI-PO and/or Longrod 3.8 isnt "stuff", it's a full crate engine, and yes, it will fit into our mustangs. I figure that if I am going to get the S/C, I might as well get something that can handle the power. That website only has 8.8s for a 05-07, and I dont think those fit on a 99-04. I would still need to find a place where I can get a decently priced rear end off of a GT in the 99-04 range.

v6'stang 06-24-2007 10:02 PM

no no, on SSM under the "forged internals" section, it has the internals for different engines. that's what i'm asking about with the HI-PO and Longrod stuff. not under the engines/shortblocks section. and i've heard that the new axles (05+) don't fit our cars. i thought they had stuff for ours, sry bout that.

v6'stang 06-27-2007 08:39 PM

anyone?

spike_africa 06-28-2007 07:17 AM

Teal still is rocking a junkyard 3.8 with 15psi...

What do you want to know about forgded pistons,rods,etc..?

v6'stang 06-28-2007 08:07 PM

i was curious about the longrod and the hi-po internals, if they fit a regular, stock 3.8 block. also, i'd like to get the procharger from vmp w/in the yr or so, and i'm kickin' around the idea of getting forged internals, but if i don't need them i don't want them.

spike_africa 06-29-2007 04:09 AM

with the regular 8psi or even the upgraded 11psi pulley on a ATI kit you wont need to get forgded internals now. The stock 3.8 is a tuff beast. I mean shit justin at VMP is pushing 17psi and 450rwhp threw stock junkyard motor.

v6'stang 06-29-2007 02:28 PM

sweet. that is exactly what i want to hear! thx bro.
