Rear caliper piston
Hey guys spent all day yesterday doing my brakes got the fronts done but when I got to the back to snap the new pads in I couldn't figure out how to get the Caliper piston to go back in, I tried using a C clamp like i did on the fronts, Even took off the cap to the brake fluid. Just wondering if anyones got an idea how I need to get it done.
hmm using a c-clamp should work...do u have a big enough clamp? other then that idk what to tell ya...clamp harder? lol
ya dude the clamp I used was huge, it's so big it even had a name printed on it "Bessy". That thing coulda crushed anything I have no idea what else to do.
Ummmm the rears spin to go in...
Using a C-clamp isnt good for them. Theres a tool you can get it looks like a cube that will help spin the piston so it will retract but I just use needle nose plyers. |
Wait so you don't even push on em? just spin em? and which direction?
The tool is a clamp that rotates. It comes with several discs which fits many makes of cars. The Piston is like a screw so you cant just push it in. Sears and any auto part store should have it. If you look at piston it should have two notches which means it needs the tool.
Ya it definitely has the 2 notches, is there an official name for this thing or am i gonna have to try explaining it to em? lol Oh and you have a general idea about how much it's gonna cost?

Here is a fancy one with a case http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-25000-Re.../dp/B0002SQUJU

thank you very much, heading up to Murry's right now to see if they have one.
haha, i woulda nvr guessed they freakin' screw in...that's definitely good to know when i have to do my brakes..
sorry side question do we have two pistons?
On the front yes. But on the rear there was only one.
