Advice on Exhaust 2004 v6 vert
 

Hello!

I am hoping I can get some good advice from others who probably know way more about this stuff than I do as I am just starting out with mods. I want to get my 6er to sound more like a GT (I know we all do) so after I reviewed TONS of clips this is the set up I like the most:

Flowmaster 40series muffler
H pipe
long tube headers

Now, after calling around to several shops here in Tampa, FL I am more confused than ever. First, prices on the same job are being quoted to me anywhere from $250-$2500!! So, anyone have a rough guess on cost if you do not have any parts? Also, I noticed some website someone who had a great audio clip listed he had Flowmaster 40's AND GT Takeoff's but aren't these both mufflers? Also, one shop the man told me NOT to get long tube headers as the Florida roads will destroy them in no time so I should just leave the factory on there? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Ok well lets get a quick run down done first.

GT-take offs are not mufflers. GT take-offs are more commonly known as the cat-back set-up of a GT Mustang. So no it is not just mufflers.

$250 is too low something is up there, $2500 is too high once again something is wrong there.

As for the shop that said don't get long tubes don't ever go back in fact run very very far away from them. Seeing that longtubes do not lay any lower then your stock pipes do now I don't see how his comment makes any sence at all.

If you do get long tubes you will need a mid-pipe made for them. MAC makes both long tubes and the mid-pipe for them for our sixers. Then you'll need a cat-back. You can buy one or have one made for you and just add what ever mufflers you want.

Total with parts look at around $1000 to be safe. Although I wouldn't pay that much it is a decent estimate.

Oh and sadly your sixer, my sixer, no one's V6 will ever sound like a GT it just can't happen. If you just want sound ditch the long tubes and the mid pipe. Go tru-dual and add whatever mufflers you want.
