How does this Setup sound?

just as a foreword, thanks alot to all of you that have answered my (possibly dumb) questions as i am not all that mechanicly inclined. anyway, the point is this, ive got a V6 2000 mustang. right now the only mod ive done is a flowmaster muffler, when summer rolls around i have plans to do alot when i can get a summer job. how do all these parts sound?

K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit

Throttle body and throttle body spacer

short tube headers

switching to dual exhaust with two flowmasters

a pulley kit, or whatever they are called

3.73 gears

and then possibly motoblue sparkplug wires and a tuner, either diablo or sct

with all those, how much power do you guys think i should get? after adding it all up it came out to between 45 and 70 depending of if i get the tuner and wires.

any input? what about gas mileage? will it go up, down, or stay same? thanks!

TB and TB spacer are a waste of money. Trust me i learned from experience. You wont need a new TB until you get into higher mods like a supercharger, turbo, etc. Other than that sounds good. Make sure you get a Traction Lock unit when you get your 3.73s and also a bearing install kit. AM sells them. Id say a total HP gain of about 15 to 20. More if you actually get your car dyno tuned instead of just the hand held tuner.

Cheddarbob 03-19-2007 07:58 PM

well everything sounds good. cant really tell about the power only a dyno can really tell you that b/c those #'s that they have say you can get up to that amount of HP not the actual. yeah so a dyno would be helpful. you should get a slight increase in MPGthe intake will raise it the flows the gears will lower it small amount but it all evens out. I am get ing rid my flows not happy with them anymore but thats up to you. hope you have some money thats alot of cash that will be going into it all at once. my plug wires really help me alot 9mm stang wires. oh yeah get some high flow cats also

instead of nickel and diming it with all that small stuff, throw some nitrous on there and then go suprise some stock GT's

spike_africa 03-20-2007 06:26 AM

I dont know if you have plans for a turbo or whatever which i doubt so i will add this. Get yourself a set of long tube headers and matchy shorty h-pipe (mac is the only maker of these parts) skip the CAI unless you grab 80buck or less one from ebay or americanmuscle.com that with a GT catback (yes the GT catback will bolt onto the shorty h-pipe) that goes with the long tube headers. I wouldnt buy anything else on your list untill you know your either gonna use nitrous or add a supercharger.

If your gonna supercharge it use 3.73's if your gonna stay n/a use 4.10's if your an auto go 4.10 regardless. dont waste your money on a TB or spacer they dont do crap with stock heads, intake, cam.

I could go on, but you need a job and start getting mods done before i add anymore.

battousai287 03-20-2007 08:56 AM

i actually am thinking about supercharging it, i am just trying to get everything else done first. i am thinking about getting the procharger with either 8 psi or 11 psi. not sure yet. and if i do that, should i replace the stock heads, cam, and intake?

spike_africa 03-20-2007 06:44 PM

if you are gonna supercharge it then yes get the 11psi setup from procharger they make good power (i like them thats just me). I would do the long tube headers,h-pipe and some sort of catback. You can run mac produmps they are very cheap or get your own setup made for cheap. After that save and get the blower on the car you will love it. If its a manual trans you can make over 300rwhp which is more then enough to blow many cars off the streets.

battousai287 03-20-2007 06:57 PM

its an automatic, but still, with the procharger and all those upgrades it will be a pretty good power jump from now. probably around 290 hp or so?

Not true. It's really gay if you do any freeway driving with 4.10's. I have 3.73's in mine and on the freeway crusing it runs around 2400-2500 doing about 65-70. With 4.10's it's much worse.

spike_africa 03-21-2007 06:57 AM

what tranny do you have? and 2,400rpms is fine for 70mph whats the problem.

:shock2:

4.10's FTW

kjbuck2 03-21-2007 09:42 AM

question about the gears statement

Why do you suggest using 3.73 with superchargers? I recently got a vortech supercharger installed and next I was thinking about up-grading the rearend with a 8.8inch with 4.10 gears.

spike_africa 03-21-2007 09:43 AM

for most people with an manual tranny they go 3.73's with blower or if its an auto car there go 4.10. The manual has better gearing so they tend to need less gear.

Thanks, so there is no problems using 4.10 with manual and superchargered. It is just something you don't see often. I got a couple of months before I add my gears. Thanks for the info.

Cheddarbob 03-21-2007 02:22 PM

not worth geting an 8.8 rear IMO money wise

If you want the most accleration out of your car, thats what you should get and what i would do with a 232.

It costs about the same as getting gears and t-lok done. I haven't done it yet but if my rear goes I will.

what i really ment was that its not a need. if your 7.5 is fine no prolems no need to go to a 8.8 or even a 9

If you plan or are running DR's or use slicks at a track you need a 8.8...trust me it's worth it.

spike_africa 03-22-2007 07:22 AM

yeah if your start pushing any kinda of good power and wanna use a sticky tire you will have to upgrade to an 8.8

kjbuck2 03-22-2007 08:25 AM

My rearend is fine now, but I will be getting some DR's later this summer, So I will probably simply get the 8.8 and gears all at one shot. Time to look at some junk yards. Thanks,

Or you could just get a new one from Ford or a distributor.
