everyone is stumped!

ok. listen to this. i have a 94 v6 and it has been misfiring. the check engine light came on and it said that its a misfire on cylinder 1. so heres what i have done so far. changed pluggs and wires (i made sure not to mix wires in wrong order), changed fuel injector, changed coil pack. nothing has stopped it. i have given up and taken it to the mechanic. he is going to take off valve covers today and check everything in there. he has tried everything also and cannot find out what is wrong. he said he felt like he was working an a new benz cause all the mechanics could not figure it out. he went online and read something about something in the computer that could be wrong. has anyone else had this problem ever? please help!!!!:bash:

The next thing i could think of is the CPS (camshaft postion sensor) but then you would think all of the cyclinders would be miss-firing aswel.

head gasket? leak a little coolant into the cylinder and things like that can happen.. don't suppose you noted any coolant on the plug when you changed it?

Or, a dead hole or a flat cam. Have you run a compression check? He should probably check the valve lash when the valve covers are off... if you have a loose pushrod that would be a sign of a flat cam lobe on #1 cylinder and it would cause it to run very rough.

^^^ Pure speculation. That's all. I could be totally wrong.

I had to have my 95's head gasket replaced with 48,000 miles on it, so that could be it. I took it into to a local mechanic and he couldnt tell me what it was for sure. Then i brought it to a ford dealer as a last resort and they told me what it was within an hour, and had it fixed that day.
