Good air intake

I want to know the best air intake i can get for a v6 mustang 2005. I will take all answer but my price range is around $200 and less.

PColav6 07-07-2006 04:34 PM

Just get a nice, cheap one. 90% of all air intakes have no difference between each other....

Yes unless you step on it more often because of the cool whoosh sound you get LOL. Seriously the best part of a CAI is the sound it gives off when the car turns off and the deeper exhaust note it helps create.

As far as best that all depends really. Do you want chrome, a carb sticker, both none etc. What do you want more looks or legality because other then that they're all going to do about the same thing in the end.

Yeah and MT is out of stock on the 82$ one for 99-04 v6 so I'ma have to spend twice as much for the MAC :(

On an 05+ you want to look for one that doesnt require a new tune after install.

determined 07-10-2006 06:35 PM

would a cai on a o4 sixer call for a tune?

PColav6 07-10-2006 07:19 PM

You won't need a new tune for just a new intake. :shifty:

05-06 v6 mustangs require a re-flash for cold air intakes. so if you dont want to spend more than 200 bucks then i would look for another mod.

MattyP083 07-12-2006 01:29 PM

i'm in the same situation as determined... but pColaV6 said you dont need a re-flash and thegillz said you do. the steeda intake on mustangtuning.com for an 05 V6 says a re-flash is required, but there are other filters (like the K&N AirCharger #63-2566) that don't need a tune. i'm lost

i think 05/06s DO need a flash after an intake is installed but 04s and older do NOT need one...that's what i picked up at least

RCTrucker7 07-13-2006 05:52 AM

The 05's and 06's do require a re-tune. Even just taking out the carbon trap changes the air flow enough to throw the computer out of whack. So, for an 05/06 C.A.I. mod, you need to plan the cost of either buying a tuner yourself, or taking to a shop to have them tune it for you.

MattyP083 07-13-2006 11:30 AM

thanks RCTrucker... question for ya... you say you're gonna get a Xcal2 and a CAI for your 05... how many horses do you think thats gonna add? do you think the $500-600 for the tuner and CAI is worth it? i want to get the steeda+Xcal2 combo kit but i dont know if its worth all that $$$

TaylorV6 07-20-2006 02:21 AM

Well i already got a superchip. It has the option of high performance air intake. I'm just not sure if that will work well or at all with an air intake, as opposed to the market choice of the xcal2. Any thoughts on this

stallions 07-24-2006 07:26 PM

i got some questions

i just got a 2000 v6 stang i ordered a cold air intake kit for it. what else should id o to make it perform good. keep in mind that it is my every day car.
