gt fog lights

does neone know exactly what it takes to put the gt fog lights on a v6? wiring, switches, etc...

WaterDR 03-13-2005 05:12 AM

You need foglights, mounting brackets, a switch, and some wire.

Lights and brackets are easy to find used cuz a lot of GT guys upgrade to different front bumpers (like me, for example). The wiring is really simple.

They make a GT fog light kit for the V6ers.. I believe its like 200 bucks.

I sold my fog lights and mounting brackets to someone for $30.00 (maybe it was $35.00). She found a wiring kit for a few dollars too. Perhaps she can tell us where she found it. I would think for less than $75 you could have working fog lights with little effort.

What year car are you looking to put lights on?

Is the switch inside the car going to look retarded?

MattJ 03-14-2005 03:11 PM

You should already have the blank button there, pop it off and put the actuall button in there.

mrshoss97v6 03-15-2005 07:49 AM

ya i have a a little slot (coin holder) that pops right out and a stock witch fits right in there....

MattJ 03-15-2005 06:30 PM

2004 has the button below the radio on the farthest right. obviously the v6's is blank because they dont come with it.

I've tried for days to install my fog lights in the bumper cover. Perhaps my hand is too big, or do you need to remove the bumper cover. There is no way with that styrofoam thing up there that I am going to get the bolts in there. Any ideas?

Its deffinetly hard as ive taken mine out a few times and done the swap to the clear ones. Save yourself the hassle and your arms and hands from being cut up by removing the bumper cover. It will turn your 4 hour job into a 30 minute job.

So what exactly is involved with removing the bumper cover? I looked into that the other day and said to myself that there has to be a better way

MattJ 08-14-2005 10:19 PM

theres 2 screws up top, and 2 on each side. its fairly easy to see where they are removed at. removing it is ALOT easier than going in there. Ive removed mine on both a lift and at home with no ramps or anything, and I can tell you removing the bumper is easier.

I left my bumper cover on when I installed my fog lights but I had to have two people there to get it done. I had my dad hold the fog lights in place from the front of the car while I sat under the car and screwed them in. I had to tape the screws to my screw driver since there is no room in there. Also I had to jack the stang up pretty high to get it done.

It amazes me how many people on this forum live with their parents? On my other favorite forum for K code mustangs, we're all pretty much grand parents. Guess I'm transcending generations with my new car :o

I think I'm going to try to remove the bumper cover.

I don't live with my parents I'm married and have a house of my own. My dad likes to help me with my mustang because he is a mustang freak like me. He helped me pick this mustang out and wont let me do anything to it unless it meets his approval first. When I told him I was putting fog lights in my car he told me to come over and he would help. He also has a kick ass garage that is heated in the winter, air conditioned in the summer and has a tv

Ok, sorry about that. Just seems like a lot of younger folks drive these cars. Didn't mean any harm.
By the way, I'm sure I'm the only fellow with 2 car seats in the back of his GT. Looks like 2 little captains chairs back there.

Just to give an update, the bumper cover is super easy to remove. Since I already had it off, it sure made it easy to remove the grill screws, which I did since I have a grill delete kit on order. Thanks for all the help.
