Nitto 555r, kumho mx, or BFG KDW2
 

Hello everyone. I will be getting 18X9 in front and 18X10 in rear. Here are my options. Nitto 555 275/35/18 in front and 555R 305/35/18 in rear. This is one option. My other choice is either Kumho MX or BFG G-force KDW2. Sizes would be 275/35/18 front and 295/35/18 rear. I understand the Nitto 555R is a drag radial and would be awesome to have a 305 in the rear, as the kumho and bfg do not make 305. I'm a little weary of a drag radial in the rain tho. PLEASE give me all input, opinions, and first hand experiences with these tires. I've seen alot of good things about the 555's, a little more pricey then the other too tho. Why havent I've seen much on the Kumho MX, they seem like great tires?? Thanks again

If you get Nitto's get 265/35/R18 in front and 295 or 305/35/R18, I have the DR's but will not buy them again. They are nice tires but the tread life is only 15,000 and they kinda suck in the rain. I'm gonna get the 555's all around next time My .02.

The MX is supposed to be a really great tire. I have had the 712's but no personal experience with any of those you mentioned.

I really enjoy the nitto 555R i have 275/40/17 they do wear fast (duh its a drag radial and has to be soft to hook good) but the extra traction is well worth it. if you drag race alot and want the extra traction its worth it. i have 14k mile son mine they are blad in the middle with a little tread on the outside (becuase i have a 275 on a 8" rim) but they are still good for another 2kmiles or so i would say and still hook great. But like i said if you dont drag race alot its not worth it at all.

I Now have falkens on the front they were $101 and are great so far and very quiet i would recomend them so far.

I had the Nitto 555R's on mine. I hated that they only lasted like 7 months. They only gave me slightly better traction during everyday driving. The handling will suffer because they have a soft sidewall. I would recommend just buying a sticky street tire like BFG's KD, Eagle F1 GS- D3, or Potenza S-02. You dont have to worry about treadlife as much. you will have much better handling, and they will do well in the rain. I think street tires are a much better investment if you are not strictly racing the car.

I do majority street driving, but want to make about 2 or 3 runs at the track next year, just to see what I'll be able to do. I'm leaning towards the Kumho MX's right now, 295/35 in the rear. I'll have 18x9's in the front, I've noticed that Saleen's come stock with 265/35 in front, is there a reason they dont usd a 275? If theres not a HUGE difference between the two, I'm planning on getting 265 in front, it'll give the illusion of a larger tire in back, although it's still 295.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is hands down the best tire I have ever owned. They are smooth and quiet and the grip is fantastic. Living in the Seattle area, I can tell you that the wet traction is phenomenal. Check out the reviews here. This is a great tire. Having driven the BFG's before, there's no comparison. Further, there's no way I would ever consider putting a Korean tire on an American muscle car. That just ain't right.

You have a point, but hey, I have SLP stuff on my stang too. I will stick with Korean tires all day long as long as they keep making them the way the do and giving them away at the prices they charge.

I've had BFG KDW2s for over a year. The ware great, and have no problem grabbing when I want them to. I rotate them evey 4000 miles. They come with a 400 or 420 tread wear rating (I think, need to run out to the car and check.) I'm running the stock size 245/45 R17. Plan on getting more BFGs when I get my new 18x9 and 1810 Bullitts in.

Thats gotta be one of the dumbest things Ive heard. What, you think most of the things on your car are American? Just an opinion, but until you try it, dont badmouth it. They are great tires and even better for the amount they charge for them.

why would you want to drag race with a 18" wheel. dont even bother with drag radials. i got street tires on my 18's 285/35 555's all the way around. they are never on my car though thats why i got bald drag radials.

Yea, he makes a great point with that. Maybe look into buying just a set that you are happy with for the street, and buy a pair of 15 or 16 in weld wheels with a pair of ET streets or MT drag radials on them, I garantee youll hook with those.

I've had the BFG kdw2's and they last awhile and do great in the rain. They come factory on the SRT-4's. My couple friends have nitto 555 drag radials (mustang and a lightning) and they've lasted about 15k miles. Khumo MX's i have on my g/f's mustang and they arent they great at all...lasted almost a year and spin easily...she's got a stock '00 GT and drives like an old lady. I'm puttin BFG g-force drag radial 2's on my stock 16's and use just for racing since they have a low life span.
