Can I swap these tire size?

Okay, I have 245/50/16 tires, can I put on 245/45/16's on my car? It will just make my tires look low profile, but will it affect anything else?

Seriously? 10+ views and nobody can even direct me where to search or ask? The only thing I can think of is that my tires will look small, and my HUGE wheel well will look even bigger.

use this site to gauge the difference.

Thanks bud. It just stated that I'll be moving faster then my speedometer says I will be. That's not a big deal, I don't think. I just need to check at Mavis and see if there is any experience with dealing with changing the sidewall size, pro's and con's and whatnot. Thanks.

They will be smaller, the wheel well will look even bigger, and the speedo will be off.

I wish I had the money to buy some nice chrome 18' Saleen rims. Oh, and then still have enough money to wrap those rims in rubber.

I would be glad to unload my stock 17 inch anthracite bullets on ya if you like, they have been sitting around in the garage and shed and getting moved from place to place for far too long. Its time for me to let em go, make me an offer if ya want.

I would, the only problem is, I just got done paying for books for college, and paying my insurance for the 'stang. I'm looking at thses $450 for 17" alluminum GT rims with Goodyear rubbers on them. They're the same width as my current tires, which was a concern and the rim is bigger, but I'm not too fond of the look. I have 16" '95 Cobra R rims and they look nice, but I need tires desperatey (and an allignment lol) and I priced all season tires $129 a piece, so if the tires mentioned above have some decent tred, like it shows in the picture, I might just buy them. I get tires, and decent looking rims for cheaper than buying just tires for my current rims.

Actually you will be moving slower than your speedometer is showing. A 245/45 is shorter so it will spin more RPM's to go the same speed and this will put more miles on the odometer than you are actually going. Even though it is a small amount.
Taller tires will slow the speedo down so you would be going faster than it reads.
